There is a way to play without actually needing the CD in your CD-ROM. Through the use of Daemon Tools you can accomplish this.
Daemon Tools has the ability to create virtual CD Rom drives, up to 4 or 5 of them. When using Daemon Tools you mount an image, which would be the LOMSE.ISO that you've created using MagicISO, and it will display in your "My Computer" area a CD/DVD ROM with the Lords of Magic Special Edition (LOMSE) icon and LOMSE name.
IMPORTANT: If you downloaded Lords of Magic as an ISO file, you must load LOMSE.iso (or whatever name it has) into Daemon Tools.
[Step 1.] Install Daemon Tools (Restart may be required).
[Step 2.] Set drive devices 1 (or more).
[Step 3.] Mount image => LOMSE.iso.
[Step 4.] Install LOMSE.
[Step 5.] Begin to play LOMSE.
If you do not install LOMSE via virtual CD/DVD-ROM, you may need to edit your registry manually. To do this, do windows "START" button, and press Run. Type the following in, without quotation marks, "regedit". Then do a manual search for LOMSE, which should appear under "Sierra Online" and then appear under a sub-folder "Setup". Once you have reached LOMSE in the said part of the registry, do the following. Double-click "CD Path" and change the CD rom drive to that of the virtual CD ROM you've created using Daemon tools.
Creating an ISO file:
MagicISO
MagicISO has the ability to create *.ISO files which can basically take all of the data from a CD and create a single file that acts as the CD data itself. Just so you know, the trial version of MagicISO limits the size you can make an ISO file.
If you wish to play without using a CD but you actually own your CD, you will need to create an ISO file and label it "LOMSE.iso." From your CD, I would suggest placing the following files in your LOMSE.ISO.:
Once all of the said tasks are finished you should restart your computer and see if it works. If your attempt was unsuccessful, reply here. If my instructions were not concise or clear enough, I can reiterate.
