My favorite faith is Chaos, but Air and Fire come a close second (with Earth bringing up the rear).
The secret to Air is mobility. In the overland map they are able to cover a lot of distance in a very short time, allowing you to get to nearby lands faster and go on a liberate-the-Great-Temple-spree. You then end up with more lords than you know what to do with. Air also boasts Fae Slingers, the Faerie Rogue and the Air Elemental. All of these are flying units. The Faerie Rogue and the Fae Slingers are archers, with a range of 10+. That means they have average-above average range and can safely kill stuff from an unreachable distance. Air Elementals are extremely fast flyers with good melee attacks. In groups they are very effective in killing key enemy units before your true army comes in for the win. One relatively unknown fact about Air is that they have permanent buffs (Cloud of War and Charged Weapon(?)… probably removed in later patches?) which greatly help their units cope with the other Faith's.
Fire boasts offense, but most of all they boast the Inferno spell. You MUST get this spell, and then what happens is that as long as you can hire mages which already have enough mana to cast it then you've basically won the game. Three mages casting Inferno at once can decimate any army (along with killing themselves)- just don't bring troops along with you or they'll die too. In a less cheesy sense you can also use this spell in a practical way because Fire boasts some of the units which have the highest HP in the game, allowing them to survive one or two Infernos (while basically almost everything else dies). The three Inferno combo mentioned earlier however is pure sacrificial suicide - with great results. The Inferno spell also serves to explain why Fire has Rockhurlers instead of your basic ranged unit - Rockhurlers are the only basic ranged unit which has a good chance to survive one or two castings of the spell.
