I still own my original disc for LOMSE, and I managed to install it on Vista without issue, using the 3.xx patches in order to slow the scroll speed. The only thing that really keeps me from playing the game is the 640x480 screen size. My desktop resolution is 1280x800, so everything on the screen -- especially the text -- is really really tiny. I've lowered my desktop resolution, and it doesn't really help. Is there any current workaround for this? If not, this is most definitely an issue I'd like to see fixed in the next mod.

This is something that's hard coded and will likely never have a work around. Unfortunate, I know. Sorry.

It's not a true workaround, but I figured out why changing my desktop resolution was having no effect: with widescreen desktops, you can't just change it to a fullscreen resolution. Aspect ratio settings must also be changed from "full screen" to "maintain aspect ratio" under Graphics Properties --> Display Settings in order for the change to be accepted. Once the desktop is successfully changed to 1024x768, the game screen becomes a reasonable size.
It's a pain to change the desktop settings every time I want to boot the game, but it's definitely better than everything looking like a rerun of Gulliver's Travels.
