I would personally go for not so saturated colors for the units. Red dward looks cool, but the rest of them are too saturared. Original game art is very neutral, pallette wise, nothing too fancy, if I were to make a graphics mod, Id follow these lines.
Artifacts looks cool ,but id remove the warcraft stuff, kinda ruins the LOM athmostphere. Doing hue shifts on selective parts of units could be an easy way to make a lot of variety my 2 cents

True enough about WCIII icons. The game don't have much new original artifact portraits to go on with though.

I don't think I can start a new thread as a non-registered user, so I wanted to ask Mantera if it's alright to use some of the stats / definitions / spells in GS5R3 in the mod I'm starting to do (I believe most item stats / definitions / spells were modified) and I only have GS5R3 installed at the moment. Proper credits will be given obviously.

[By the way], it's a LOM Mod but I'm porting it in another 4X game...

I'm using LOMSE graphics/items/spells to create a mod in another 4x game.
The LOMSE version that is installed on my computer is your GS5 version.
I'd like, if possible, to use the stats you have given to various items/spells rather than the original ones.

I knew about Neverwinter Nights mod dedicated to LOM, but no info emerged for a long time.

Stardock has got some cool games which drew my attention, like Galactic Civilizations.
Be sure I will be up to try your work sometime, if it will come to success.

Speaking of additional voices for GS6, I guess you might hold some kind of voice contest, as some of users (me, Myrddin for example) may have the ability of recording acceptably good voice talents. Just as an option. Count me in; in the event this becomes a reality, pending Boaster's decision. I have a high quality mic and have had experience doing voice work. Can also use Audacity to filter noise after recording. Just have to reinstall it (cpu wigged out and I had to do a bare-bones restore recently) and get used to sound editing again. Which shouldn't take long at all. My voice range is medium to medium-high. Comparable to the elven riders, life archers and life warrior warlords...maybe a -tad- bit lower. My only hesitation is that utilizing -any- voices not found in the original LOMSE may actually have a negative impact on the atmosphere of the game. This of course, is just my opinion & fear...and I'm not always right.

Here's what I've come up with for artifacts so far... Click to EnlageGenerating the icons is the easiest part. Generating the portrait so LOMSE will read is another. I already have all of the D1 and WC3 portraits finished and readable in game, per the PIC5R3. The second big step will be getting the BG and D2 portraits readable. In addition, I'm trying to get the colorized portraits readable in game as well. One word (regarding the unit sprites, too) - S W E E T!!

Myrddin's voice can be heard in GS5 Life Quest Lose Cutscene. There's too much reverb for voice like that to be featured as unit voices, but in that case it can be mastered in another way. My voice is bass, so I am mainly capable of doing mostly evil voices as well as Barbarian and Dwarven one as an exception.
