Hello everyone just thought i would post a little something to introduce myself here.
Been a long time fan of LOM and have been playing the series since LOTR2. I grew up playing both excessively, initially playing mostly LOTR2 because at the time i was younger and wasn't able to fully grasp the mechanics and real gameplay of LOM. Later on i discovered some friends of mine knew of LOM and were avid fans themselves. They showed me the ropes and we had a lot of fun playing and just discussing strategies and custom game setups ect. These are the same friends i would play MTG with back in the day and we would rotate from LOM to MTG and back again as nothing else in the world really gives a proper fantasy TBS feeling as these 2 games except for maybe classic DND.
I recently found i still had LOM on my laptop and started to get back into it. I realized that the Steam gaming community had released a copy of it so i started posting on the steam forums just for fun and to see who and what was on there, mainly looking for a hi-resolution patch (like the fallout 2 patch [playable in 1600x900 with shaders!]). Instead of finding a hi-res patch i was lead to the offical and unoffical LOM patches and grabbed them immediately. The unofficial patch added some nice elements to the game which definitely should have already been implemented in the game before release. The expanded champion info panel is absolutely an important part of game information which is ideal to have. I started messing around with custom game setups (in vanilla version) and created a few that worked great. I started a thread on the Steam Forums to encourage others to create and share custom game setups using legit barter points and no glitches, this is where i noticed a single post about mantera's page and was suddenly enlightened by the idea of a mod and quickly drooled over the new artifacts and extended game stat info on his page. I cannot stress enough how impressed I am with the page and the work he put into it. I am now running the mod and it works like a charm.
There are a few things that seem to be unbalanced to me but my guess is the mod is structured for online play. I noticed starting barter points even on easy is 5000, that seems like way to much considering that on easy in vanilla you start with around 2800 give or take a bit. I can purchase a stone giant to have on turn 1? i LOVE the changes to the custom game screen and the added UI, artifacts and all the scrolls is an excellent addition but i have trouble seeing how that balances out (i'm a noob to the mod, no offenses intended). Also noticed that earth's army movement is much more than it was in vanilla (yes earth is my favorite faith), so again im guessing this is multiplayer balance stuff.
Anyways I was hoping to get into some of this multiplayer action asap. I heard rumors of Xorgate server or something but its offline? I made a Game Ranger account so if anyone wants a game let me know please, i would really like to try this new mod in multiplayer!
Thanks for the help and hope to see you in Urak soon!
