Trying to start very basic, just tinkering with the inferno spell (;D); the only change I instituted was changing the cooldown time on the spell from 60 ticks to 30, as I figured that that would be noticeable enough for testing. (Just changed the 60 in 'recover_ticks 60 def' to 30) However, when I drag-and-drop the altered Inferno.gs file into Ladik's Editor, close the editor, and start the game, I get an error saying that the GS.mpq file is corrupted. So, my question is, is this a result of a mistake I'm making in compressing the GS file (when I drop into Ladik's editor? I've been using 1. File with this extension is a data file. 2. Use PKware data compression library (I also tried the other options, which didn't help.) 3. No Encryption (I tried encryption, no noticeable difference) 4. Locale ID: Neutral. No matter which options I choose, I seem to corrupt the GS.mpq file. I had the same result when I attempted to install the gs5 image pack, only there, the pic.mpq was corrupted. Maybe the game knows I'm trying to cheat.

With Ladik's MPQ Editor I use a different method. I have a folder on my 'D' Drive called GS5, i.e. D:\Gs5\ and in this folder I have the entire GS.mpq uncompressed in there. So I just recreate a new MPQ file every time I make an update to the MPQ.
However, WinMPQ is excellent for dragging/dropping and searching for specific files.
If all you've changed is the recover ticks, then something must be wrong with Ladik's MPQ Editor. Try WinMPQ maybe. Or try editing the inferno spell directly through Ladik's MPQ Editor. Meaning, go to the folder where Inferno is, open it, edit it, and see if Ladik asks to update the file.

Cool, thanks for the tips! Will try that.
