Lords of Magic II may be closer to reality than any of us may think. The concept of an LOM2 may become a reality in as little as 5 years. Well, to some degree 5 years may not seem so little but wouldn't we all rather wait 5 years than 10? I'd wait 10 years for an LOM2, as long as it comes out. But none of us can tell whether or not it will actually happen.
What will LOM2 have? Will it maintain the clever combination of turn-based exploration with real-time combat. Or will the game be turned into an RPG type of game? Will there be more than one kind of neutral player, rather than just the murauders we've known to hate? I know a few things I would like LOM2 to have.
Customization
Wouldn't we all love to see more than just "Fire" Giants, or "Life" Elves. What about the possibilities of Fire Elves, or Life Giants? Or possibly "Death" Giants, "Death" Humans, "Death Dwarves," "Chaos Elves," "Air Gnomes," "Fire Humans," "Fire Faeries," "Chaos Centaurs" and the list continues.
Being able to mix and match Faiths, Races, and Classes. With LOMSE you have a selection of 3 classes, and 8 faiths which extends a maximum possibility of 24 Lord choices. That number could increase almost ten-fold if Race, Faith, and Class were customizable.
Neutral players
What about being the "Murauders" yourself? Commanding disbanned units, rebels, and unpaid mecenaries.
How about trading with Neutral played Merchants? How about Neutral player villages where you can hire murauder-type units, or other NPCs?
Spells
Mages that can cast spells based on Race and Faith, rather than just Faith. In LOMSE, only Order mages (Wizards) are able to cast Order spells. What if you were an Order Shaman? You might have access to certain spells which only Shamans have access to, as well as all the spells of the Order faith itself. Perhaps if you were an Order Shaman, you would cast "Chaos" spells, but they will deal Order damage. The first idea in my opinion would be better.
Mercenaries
In LOM, you can pop mercenaries out of your barracks and guild. I'd like if it were the Lords of the Realm style, where Mercenaries are neutral units and travel from town to town. You can kill them for sport or experience, or maybe hire them. Also the ability to persuade mercenaries from one player with better wages.
Weapons
The ability to change weapon types. Its not particularly fun being an Order Warrior and always wielding a sword. Perhaps being an Order Warrior and wield a staff, halberd, or crossbow? This would be a good thing to add under customization.
Color schemes
This would probably fit into customization. Like your Elven Lord will wear "hot colors" symbolic to being a Fire worshipper.
These would be some grand ideas to throw onto the table of LOM2. Throw down some of your own ideas. This forum is open to everyone.
