I've been looking at these games over the last few days. Both of which look pretty good to me. I don't know how much better Starcraft or Diablo will be than their predecessors but they should be fun none the less. I'll probably pick up both games when they come out, hopefully one comes out later this year, but with Blizzard it could be 5 years before anything is said. It took Blizzard almost 2 years to release patch 1.10 for Diablo 2. Plus, there have been talks about Starcraft 2 for over 10 years.
Blizzard obviously puts out some great games, but they take forever to do so.

They also release their games, unfinished, then produce several early patches.
Once a new game, or an expansion comes around, they radically change their games and leave them with all their problems. Reign of Chaos for example, and D2 classic.

That is more of a marketing scheme. They are trying to make people buy the new game by not working on the old one.
Plus it costs money to keep working on old games and keeping the servers up. The games are not pay to play either so there is limited income.

It is dumb to not maintain the game, but I think they are trying to push people to play their other games. Or maybe in Blizzards opinion the game works fine.

I'll probably play both. Played Diablo 1 and 2 and Starcraft Original/Brood War and they were both pretty entertaining. We have SC2 now, but I haven't played it yet. Planning to finish the Brood War campaigns first.
