I have developed 81 adventuring classes for an RPG type game. I imagine this could be implemented in an MMO, but that's not what this thread is about. Think tabletop for now, since LOM2 isn't anywhere near development.
I've outlined this in another thread, LOM2 as an RPG But I'd like to expand on it here. One would begin by choosing a base class: Fighter, Mage, and Rogue (Just like LOM!). Then you would choose your race which is outlined in the former thread. The races are collectively referred to as "Races of Nine" or RON. There are nine alliances hence the name.
Not all are "Races" per se. Dryads, Unicorns, and Eagles may or may not be magical creatures. They can shift forms between their humanoid self and their essence. Dryads, know as tree nymphs, become tree forms which make them substantially better fighters. Unicorns turn into Elves with a single horn, making them better spell casters (hands). Eagles become winged Nymphs or Elves making them better spell casters and armored warriors. I've introduced non-melee class fighters so eagles can be good fighters in their eagle form.
I've seemed to have tied all the classes to their faiths. This is due to two main reasons.
However, "Faith" does not tie you to Alliance. If followers lose faith in their leader (Life leader is killing too much, or Order leaders are going too crazy) players can choose a new Alliance.
My point: come up with a class title for a Race Class combination and explain your reasoning. I'd like us to shy away from Eastern Oriental classes.

Mages, Rogues, and examples to follow.

- Magical power seems tied to faith in that power. Faithful are endowed by their God or force.
- All classes can do special elemental or divine attacks according to faith.
