I'm pretty dumb when it comes to computers, but me and my dad have been trying to play together for a while, i have a laptop and he has a tower, how does this "direct connect" work (we have vista)? also my older brother has a cpu in the basement with XP, so if there is a way to connect that too, what is it?
Please use step by step directions, like i said, I'm kinda dumb when it comes to computers.…
OH, and by the way, idk if this is a given or not, but we DO have wireless internet...

I believe that you just have to connect the two computers via a duel headed USB cable, but I'm not sure, never tried it.…. hmmm, if you find out, let me know, thats definately something that i might be interested in trying.…

You can connect two computers with a USB cable, but there needs to be a "bridge" on that USB cable that will allow the two computers to communicate back and forth.

Ok, so a special USB cord would be needed? or a USB cord and a bridge? would a radio shack have a bridge?

www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/248It's a good read and explains a lot. As far as using a USB bridge, I think it may come up as a network interface of it's own all together and it might use IPX/SPX instead. I don't know for certain, I haven't tested.

Out on the web, there are programs for "Virtual" direct connections between computers over the internet. I haven't experimented with them personally.
This is another possibility for LOMSE multiplayer, if for some reason you cannot play over GameRanger.
