Special Champions are Champions which are beyond the regular Champions (Fighter/Mage/Thief), but equal to Lords in ability. Special Champions, include Legendary Champions, and "Quest Only" Lords. They can achieve level 15, as a Lord can.
To be one of the Special Champions, you must enter your player name as followed corresponding with the Lord type in parentheses.
Brunhilde - (Water Thief) to be the Valkyrie.
Siegfried - (Order Warrior) to be Yeoman Lord, or Cavalier Lord (random).
Bronze Knight - (Order Warrior) to be the Legendary Knight
Orc Warlord - (Chaos Warrior) to be the Marauder Warrior Champion.
Witch - (Chaos Wizard) to be the Marauder Wizard Champion.
Lich - (Death Wizard) to be the Legendary spell caster of Death
Balkoth - (Death Wizard) to be the Arch Demon himself.
At this point in time the Special Champions are not accessable through the Lord Editor.
Choosing Siegfried
The stage you start with Siegfried is randomly determined at the start of the map. There is a bonus to being the Cavalier Lord, which is easy access to the Kruezritter (a Paladin Lord who suprases the Crusader).
The first two stages of Siegfried (Yeoman Lord and Cavalier Lord) can wield any staff in the game (including mage staves and legendary staves). However, they cannot wear shields or swords, but may wear body armor.
Siegfried will start with the Staff of Quality, a unique weapon.
Choosing the Bronze Knight
The Bronze Knight starts with the Shield of Quality, a defensive version of Sword of Quality. The Bronze Knight will start at a much greater level than any other Champion, but he will stay at that level for quite some time until he accumulates the necessary experience required for his next level.
Choosing the Lich
The Lich starts with no Unique artifact, but has the nice ability to Life steal in melee like his Vampire brethren. The Lich, like the Bronze Knight, will start at a high level at the start, but will need a lot of experience to reach the next level.
Choosing Balkoth
When a player chooses Balkoth he will not start with Balkoth's Scythe or Balkoth's Shield. Those two Unique items are given to the computer player only, and they are rewards for slaying Balkoth. Only Balkoth may wear his Shield, but anyone can use the Scythe. Beware, wearing the Scythe will cause others to be jealous of you *wink wink*.
Choosing the Valkyrie
The Valkyrie starts with the Maiden Spear, a unique weapon. The Valkyrie cannot use the Water Thief Lord's Legendary weapon.
Choosing the Orc Warlord
The Orc Warlord starts with the Axe of the Orcs, a unique weapon. Only the Orc Warlord may wear it.
Choosing the Witch
The Witch starts with the Wicked Staff. It turns not Witches into witches, and destroys the artifact. The artifact will penetrate any unit's armor, regardless of Level, 33% of the time.
When the Witch is level 10 or greater, the Staff will cast Polymorph Other 5% of the time in melee.
The Leveling rate of all Special Champions is slower than normal Lords, which means they require more experience than a same level Lord to reach the next level.
