Though I do enjoy the mod, I must say that I'm nearly at my wits end. I recently discovered that the many phrases our friends of Urak say have been unjustly cut down to a single phrase. For example, instead of an order lord (mage) being able to say "Is this important? I have a meeting to attend.", "You summoned me?", and "Order be praised", he is limited to "Order be praised". In other words, every character in the entire game can only say one thing, and it bothers me. Unfortunately, the only way I can even play this game is through this patch... I've been trying, with my limited knowledge of...well, everything, to attempt to delete the cd check feature. I first used Ladik's MPQ editor to delete the entries gs/dlg/newdlg.gs, gs/dlg/panels.gs, and gs/dlg/netGmdlg.gs from File00000000.xxx. In conjunction with this, I went into lomse.exe with a hex editor and changed the following values 743E6A00FF15B0D0540083F805, 751A8D44240450E8, and 741049894E548B76508914CE8944CE045EC38BCEC7869000000003000000E860 to 40486A00FF15B0D0540083F805, 40488D44240450E8, and 404849894E548B76508914CE8944CE045EC38BCEC7869000000003000000E860, respectively.
I even tried to use DAEMON tools to create a ghost CD with LOM_SE.iso, but when autorun.exe comes up, the install option doesn't work. And in addition, I tried using the LOMSE crack you provided on your website (lomse.exe) and that didn't work. I think that this may be a compatibility error, as I am running XP. However, wowexec.exe and setup.exe are still listed as active processes, but do not indicate any memory usage. For some reason, when I load the patch into a folder I designated LOMSE, the game works and does not prompt me for a CD. When I dabbled with the hex and mpq editor, I was still prompted for a CD. If I could figure out how to change the compatibility in the ISO for Win 98 or 95, maybe I could get the game to work. But I hardly think that will work.
If you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think I clarified something in my last post. I'm attempting to play LOMSE without the patch so that I can enjoy the many quaint phrases of each character.Depending on whose mod you're playing, your results may vary. Also depends on what version you're playing and where you downloaded your copy from.
I can say immediately that some places that offer Lords of Magic for download offer just that, Lords of Magic (sans Special Edition). Some have mislabeled LOM as LOMSE or LOM2, because they're stupid and they deserve to die.
Anyway, make sure you're using Lords of Magic Special Edition, version 3.00. You can check this my looking to your CD/ISO image, right clicking the properties of LOMSE.exe. Confirm that it is version 3.00.
I believe I know what your sound difficulties are. You probably have special.mpq in your LOMSE directory or you do not have sndfx.mpq in your install directory. Special.mpq is a secondary sound archive designed for low end installs. If you downloaded the game and it only has special.mpq, you'll have to download the sndfx.mpq from my megaupload link. Do a forum search for "sndfx.mpq" (sans quotations).
You are having install issues with XP? I know what the problem is. In Windows XP, the auto-run comes up with a gray box with buttons. XP is not reading the splash image and will not properly run the Install from this dialog window. My suggestion is that you go directly to the CD, or mounted ISO image, open it up and run the setup file. If you are still having difficulty, go to properties and have the program runs as a Windows 98/ME compatible program. If you're still having problems, then you just may need to do a manual install, which is copying the files to a folder (I suggest you maintain it as the default C:/SIERRA/LOMSE/, but the letter drive is yours to decide).
If your are still having difficulties, post in this thread and give me an update. In the meantime, I suggest that you download LOMSE per the LOMSE Full Download thread on this forum if you find that your ISO file is not right. Be sure to read and follow the guidelines carefully. I'm strict, but I'm fair on those guidelines.
Also, feel free to sign up to the forum. Maybe you'd like to stop by more often.
Take care, hope I was helpful.
