I have found this gem in the Disciples 3 news forum:
"Can't remember a game in ages having a spellbook with own illustrations and quotes from legends.
Sweet mother of light, I really feel like being back in the times of Lords of Magic, if someone can remember that one, where games were not just a battle of materials regarding the graphic cards but rather some kinda masterpiece concluding a crispy story, awesome art and fancy ideas bringing the original idea of the developers to life instead of humilating the idea due to the money-making mass-pleasing orders of some fat chairpooper behind the scenes stuffing money into it." [Laugh out Loud] well said, games are way too scared of breaking the mold to come up with anything new, every mmog follows the WoW model nowadays and every RTS the warcraft/age of empires model.
I can't imagine any game company coming up with a game that mixed realtime and turnbased tactics. Developers think that if they include illustrations and stories into a game no one will bother reading them or care, I can personaly say that I've read every single spell description in the library spell books aswel as they backstory provided in the manual and loved it.
