Hello. I am "Keith McGee" from the "Hi, I want the password to DL LOMSE" thread.
I have downloaded the game, DAEMON Tools, and Magic Iso. I have successfully mounted the ISO file into Daemon Tools, and installed the game via that.
I don't get a desktop icon that says Lords of Magic, and when the autorun comes up, it still prompts me to install.
Regardless, I made a shortcut to the application file in the CD on my desktop, so that I can play the game. I can run the game just fine. I create my lord, blah blah, and then It enters the game. All looks fine until I try entering combat. I can Autocalc, but I'd like to be able to fight on my own. The only thing that happens is that the Combat help paragraph comes up, and the screen stays as it was before you entered the cave/whatever. And you can't move anywhere/pass the turn/do anything.
I've tried running the program in compatibility mode of everything from Windows 95 and up (I am running Windows Vista).
Can anyone shed some light on my problems?
P.S. - Almost forgot. I did not install any of the mods that came with the download, as I wanted to at least try the game out in it's original form first. Thanks!

Do you have a "savegame" folder in your LOMSE directory? If not, there's your problem. If that's not the case, try to restate your problem please.

I do have a "savegame" folder in the ISO file, but I don't even have a LOMSE directory in my program files anywhere, for some reason.

Off of the "CD", yes. The ISO file, not an actual CD. Should I burn the ISO file to an actual CD? Would that work?
And should I have a LOMSE folder in my Sierra directory? I installed it off of the ISO file...

You need Daemon Tools and Alcohol or whatever? That doesn't make sense. All you need is WinRAR and extract the files.

Got it working. No problems.
One thing - Is there a way you can reduce the scroll speed of the game? With my laptop touch pad it is extremely hard to control.

How much of the game does the mod change?

How much of the game does the mod change? As much as it possibly can.

Just tried 50 turns of Chaos on the modded game. Doesn't seem much different to me, despite visual differences. I'd have to imagine many of the changes are behind the scenes?

Yes, the interface is different. I can change the scrolling speed, I get notified of how much XP my units gain after fighting people...The interface is much different, and I like it better. I just want to know, as far as gameplay goes, what does it change?

I just want to know, as far as gameplay goes, what does it change? One thing I noticed right after from installing the mod was definitely the mages. They like to spam offensive spells instead of defensive spells. Any chance they get they will use their basic attack spell (Chaos Bolt, Curse, etc) and sometimes if they have their terrain spell (Lava Flow, Tundra), they'll use it on you, then attack you. Sometimes if you haven't issued a command at all while in battle, the enemy units move and take a certain position, but don't attack. They only attack until you issue a command. Lords can now be up to lvl 15. Villages can be rebuilt if destroyed by marauders. Certain lords can summon creatures (Witch can summon Goblin Archers.) More lords are available like the Valk. Movement has been drastically changed for the better. Thieves can now get multi-shot. More artifacts. More spells. More followers to put as resources.

Well, Villages cannot be destroyed or rebuilt now. Witch and Orc Warlord can train Orcs and Goblins in the barracks and guild, instead of the normal Raiders, Berserkers and Stick Throwers. Thieves can multi-shot with their Legendary Artifact at a rate of 25%. Some creatures come in groups of 2 instead of one now.

Can you tell me how to use the artifacts? I figured out how to use the spells ([Laugh out Loud] I'm a bit of a novice at this game)

Another question. I;m on turn 171 of my game at the moment...and I have effectively eliminated like 5 other faiths, but I can't seem to kill the Lords. Is there a way to kill them? Every turn, the Lord of Earth just tries to attack the Earth City where I have stationed a 12-member party of Earth warriors to keep him at bay. Is there a way to get rid of him?
EDIT: This was happening because I was auto-calculating my combats. I realized that these Lords were either Thiefs who hid everytime then ran away, or a lord who was just faster than the people I put there and ran away before I could kill them. What is the best way to get rid of a Thief who Stealth's all the time?
