A GS5R3 and PIC5R3 are going to be released in the next month or so. The PIC5R3 will include the portrait pack, as created by SHIN and will also include some portrait fixes.
Additionally, new Artifact and Spell buttons will be added.
I have decided to go ahead and do it with the R3 version, instead of going to GS6/PIC6 because the long list of changes and additions I wanted to make would be almost insurmountable if I don't just add things in smaller steps.
I'll be doing an early release of the PIC5R3. As usual the PIC5R3 will be backwards compatible.
I will also be doing an early release of the GS5R3, but with little or no changes to the game. This will make the transition smoother. Then down the line as updates progress the newer graphics within the PIC5R3 will be implemented.

After giving it a little thought, I think what I will do is release the PIC5R3 and then when I'm ready to transition and add more artifacts, spell buttons and stat buttons I will transition it over to the GS6B with the PIC6B (Beta). Then when final additional graphics (portraits, stat icons, action icons, spell icons, etc.) are ready to be added, the Beta mode will be lifted and it will be the GS6 and PIC6 mods.
If anything is added during the Beta phase of the GS6, then will simply up the version number to GS6B1/PIC6B1, and so on.

you should also include the "lost sounds" I concur, although you'd have to download the additional sndfx.mpq file along with everything else. I made a minor update, by the way. Check the Sound Modding thread for details.

Check the Sound Modding thread for details. I am adding things in steps. That will be something that would go with the GS6 and PIC6. There won't be a 5R4 mod. But there will be a GS6B after the GS5R3. If I decided not to do things in steps, the next step in modding will have been delayed so much further. My target is to release a PIC5R3 in the middle of next month. For the most part, I am all ready ready to release it, but I want to get some additional portraits from Shin to incorporate them. All of the graphics I have added so far have been tested and work in the mod. I added an assload of colorized artifact portraits that correspond to a lot of the new artifact icons.

Since Shin has been too busy to do much with his portraits, I will be releasing the PIC5R3 next Monday, 3/29/2010.
The PIC5R3 will include new graphics and will include the portrait pack. In game portrait names will remain unchanged and additional portraits, from the portrait pack, will be appended.
I.e. 'portraits/CHLDFp01.lbm' I.e. 'portraits/EALDTp01.lbm' I.e. 'portraits/AITHFp09.lbm'
Also pictures from the original LOM that were discarded from LOMSE will be included as additional portraits.

PIC5R3 is on schedule for release this Friday. Shin was not able to create any new portraits from his drawings and Wolfnine has added 6 to the mod.
Unless Wolfnine presents 6 new portraits in the next two days, the PIC5R3 is going to be released Friday.
