Hey, I'm really excited to see that you've provided MP3's of the mod review. As an audio engineer the sound quality is on the low end of the spectrum. Do you still have the original uncompressed sound file?
I'm having trouble making out what you're saying.
Could you compress as a MP3 using LAME encoder at 128 kbps and 44,100 Hz? Hopefully you still have the original source file, otherwise the quality can't be recovered. You may not be able to make it as a board attachment, but you can use free download sites like megaupload or depositfile or rapidshare.
If you could do this, I will give it another listen.
Thanks Solarr.

No need to be rude. I just think that an audio recording of the mod review is better than just text. A person can really hear what you're saying and how you mean it. Text is just text, and sometimes the inflection can be misconstrued.

Penara map is good for any GS5: GS5B, GS5, GS5R, GS5R2, and soon to be GS5R3.
The AI in the game, on my part, has only been modified slightly. The AI is dumb because the creators didn't have the time or man power to make a very elaborate AI. What they did was impressive enough with what they had.
Mod is intended to improve the game. Not just balance of units among units, champions among champions, lords among lords, creatures among creatures. Also improve interface, with what was available.
Your point about Freeze being prevent by lava. Yes, magic conquers all. I still insist that.
Between the GS5R2 and the GS5R, NOTHING was changed on the AI. Between the GS5 mod and the original, some changes were made.
Now you're arguing Bolt spells versus a Buff spell? Righteous Bolt and Righteous Cause are not the same! One is temporary and the other is permanent!
Yes, I am tuning the mod for myself. I make changes in small steps that I feel make sense. If my changes don't make sense and I can be persuaded, I will do something about it. I make changes which I think will improve the mod. I make changes to make the game better.
You don't agree with the changes, I cannot help that.
The game Mechanics are fundamentally the same between unmodded and modded: Level your army (mainly your Lord), gain strength by artifacts and/or spells, conquer your neighbors, win the game.
You insist on arguing the AI. I insist that I haven't elaborately changed the AI. I haven't made drastic changes to the AI.
You're right about the resources and the AI. But the AI was poorly made.
Depowering of mages? You fucking kidding me?
Special units depowered? Yep, I knew you were going towards Lancelot.
Yes, the Dragons are powerful. They're fucking dragons! They're also END GAME UNITS!
There is not one way to win.
Yes, speed, or rate of accomplishment is also an influence on who will win.
You thinking other players of my mod are blind folded? I'm sure there's a LONG list of shit you're blind folded about OUTSIDE of this mod.
Three issues? 1. Strategy removed? Goes back to the AI. You're critiquing me on something I haven't been able to mod.
Righteous Bolt will NEVER HELP YOU! Wow!
Only one way to play/win? Use only spell buffs? No way.
2. AI again? Never made changes to the AI. Duh!
3. Harping on Special Champions again.
Okay, I'm done. I stopped listening there. Your whining about the AI is just more torture to myself than I will allow.
You are whining/complaining about the same things over and over and over again.
Just because you think the AI is different, doesn't make it different.
Here's what I changed with the AI. Read carefully. 1. Order of Spell Selection, because the AI will try to cast the first spell in a set in it's given situation. There's several situations. Minor Single, Major Single, Minor Multi, Major Multi, Crazy, Heal, Resurrect spells (not the exact names, and there are more, sorry). The HIGHER mana spells, or at least most useful spells, get moved to the front of the list. Otherwise HIGHER mana spells will never get used. Since spell mana costs were changed and new spells were added to the game, NOT doing this would harm the AI.
2. Changed them from being DEFENSIVE to OFFENSIVE in encounters. Remember in the original how, if you had a larger army, they would stay put? I changed the AI's play book option of getinto_defend_play from flank_attack. This effectively means that the AI will not just sit there, they will split up their army to cover the retreat point with one side and then once the retreat point is covered they will go to FLANK you from possibly two sides with a split army.
3. How many charges in Healing or Mana potions the AI will use.
One thing that INDIRECTLY effected the AI was the increase in costs of units. This is why the AI was given more money.
Other than those 3 things, with that ONE indirect thing, the AI is the same as the original. Just as dumb, and just as easy to overcome or exploit.
I tell you what though. I have considered your words about Freeze NOT working on Lava terrain. You're right. Any unit standing on Lava should still get hit by Freeze. But for units standing over lava terrain, here's what I will do: Halve the duration of the spell.
If you have problems with the AI, forward or copy your complaints to Jeff Fiske and/or Mike Gingerich. They will take note of them, but they won't be making a patch for LOMSE any time soon, as they will be too busy and will NOT be able to service that game for legal reasons.
The only differences I can recall is that somewhere along the line, the AI's use of spells got a little dumber for some wizards. Such as a Necromancer trying to cast Visage of Horror multiple times. I haven't figured that part out yet. But you didn't cite that specifically, nor is your beef with the AI's use of spells, just the AI's general stupidity.
I cannot help you with the AI.
I cannot help you with the AI.
You, so far, have been unable to persuade me to make any changes, save for that tiny change. You have not requested any specific changes, only complained, asked questions, or complained, or said "this needs changing" without saying what to.
I do plan to change Freeze. Lava will no longer prevent it, just reduce it's duration.
Here's the 'gs/combatai.gs' documentation as recent as the GS5R2.
