Yo folks, I'm a long-time player the original LOM, but I got Vista and discovered the patch would not run no matter what compatibility settings I tried - prepatched LOM is utterly unplayable - so I finally downloaded the LOMSE version. Been playing it for a day and discovered that there are Golgotha's Gift traps in some dungeons and forgot how to eliminate that nuisance - found the answer to this here already though - dispell magic - so I'm already happy having found this place. Came looking for a place like this specifically because catching GG at low levels can really quash the game if you cannot get rid of it. In no time you're wasting all your resources trying to keep your lord alive and don't dare take long trips anywhere. I really miss the cheats though - Marathon, Jackpot, Hocus Pocus, Puff.… and was wondering if LOMSE has any similar cheats. Thanks a bunch. thegarymontster@gmail.com

Thanks a bunch. thegarymontster@gmail.com The unmodded LOMSE has the same cheats, just with different names. Don't know why the makers did that. Also the GS5R2 mod puts in a butt load of cheats (which I personally use for testing reasons).

One thing this game has that hasn't been broken. The music adds a lot to the game. Also I think the fact that the game uses a wide variety of creatures (i.e. Faeries AND Giants playable).

Boaster has some instructional in-game vids uploaded onto Youtube, under the name ellelone. You can find some excellent combat strategies there.

Village created buildings will only provide Mercenaries who are hired with experience based on the current turn number and the level of the building. Creatures, such as Bears, Wolves, Gargoyles, Elementals, etc. can be summoned from a Mage's Tower since these units cannot be Mercenaries as they are creatures.

Fire Warlords. These guys will hurt you almost no matter what because of their exceptionally High Attack value. They also do Fire Damage with their attacks. 1 in 5 points (or 20%) of damage they inflict counts as Fire Damage, which can be reduced with Fire Resistance. Best Thief? Depends on your needs. If you want short range with high damage and hit rate of fire, go with an Assassin or Huntress. If you want melee tough, go with Fire, Order or Water. If you want long range with good damage, Life or Earth. If you want to be nearly untouchable, go with an Air Thief. What do you like about Shamans?
