According to a very reliable source, the intellectual property of Lords of Magic and all of the other old Sierra games, was purchased by a company in Eastern Europe.
Hopefully the new owners of the Lords of Magic copyright are fans of the title and will try for a sequel.

I just hope that if there is an LOM II that keeps the winning formula of the original, and doesn't turn into (opinion) a disaster like Lords of the Realm III.

yes, hopefully they look here for ideas i really think this forum board has had some amazing ideas as far as a sequel goes. i just hope they don't sit on the title like sierra was... if they don't want to make a sequel, they should at least let others do it.

Um, this from a very unreliable source (youtube comments, specifically /watch?v=sseb0Z59zt4 2nd page of comments)
, but I read that Blizzard now has the rights to Lords of Magic.
Can anyone verify that?

That's old information.
Sierra was bought by Blizzard, then Blizzard by Activision, then by EA, then by some company in Europe.
That's the extent of my knowledge in the matter.

Ah, I see!
A pity nothing seems to be happening out of it.

Interesting side note, the intellectual property of another sierra game (leisure suit larry) has been bought by a private startup and a game has been funded using kickstarter.
How amazing would it be if LOM met the same fate? I can't even find out who owns the IP let alone wrest it out of them. Not even talking about high prices, just getting them to sell for any price to a private person/startup would be a feat.

If I'm not mistaken the IP was only licensed. I wonder how much it would be just to license LOM's IP for remakes and what not.

No matter how much I search for this information, I can never seem to find as much as an obscure google link. The most current info I can find is from Moby games, I attached am image : I sent an email to the PR department at Rebellion to see if they have recently sold or licensed the rights to anyone. If they reply to me I will post here about it. Attachments:

I have found out, that lordsofmagic.net/.org and lords-of-magic.com/.net/.org are free to register. A good way to find out, whom the rights really belong is to register one of these, make up a good site, and once traffic starts coming, you'll only have to await a mail from the rightful owner

It is not a secret. LOM and Lords of the Realm franchises belong to Rebellion. According to the wiki, they even republished the games in 2009 and most probably all GoG sales go to them.
