I love this game, and have been playing for the past 8 years, however not until recently did I explore the game with a hex editor. By tracking units' offsets (in hopes of cheating the custom leader maker) I came across a unit unknown to meself, a floating spear. I have nrver fought one while playing the game, so I am not sure where it came from. I am asking for intel on this unit as well as reasoning behind it's creation.

It was a unit I think that is, or was planned for use, in one of the Legends of Urak quests.

Mantera is right. It is found in the King Aurthur Quest of Order. When you get Lancelot he has side quests of his own. He eventually goes into a cave or encounter which I think is dark, like fog of war dark. He fights alot of Lances hence "Lance-alot". I can't remember the in game dialogs, but they explain something about his family or father.
Edit: Now I remember, He gets this quest from the Lady of the Lake, but I'm not sure how they are related. He is therefore known as "Lancelot of the Lake" due to his fairy god mother of the Lake.

I know, isn't it weird how French poets in the dark ages predicted that there would be another continent where an unknown language will be spoken, and computers would be invented, and a company would create a video game and include a quest based on medieval French legend, and they would have one of the characters fight a lot of lances, so the French poets figured out how this will sound in this unknown future language and named their hero after the phrase Lance-A-Lot?
Or they just used the dimunitive form of the Frankish name Lanzo.…
