So there is a lot of speculation on what nice/awesome features everyone would like to see in a potential LoM2! Seeing as LoM still is my favorite game, I, personally, would LOVE to see a sequel! However, there is much confusion over who has the copyright and exactly how to convince them to create the sequel.
So...
Why don't we just make it ourselves? We've got plenty of ideas floating around out here. I have experience in programming (especially game programming) and I'm certain we could find some willing graphical artists and/or other programmers who love this game.
Essentially, has anyone considered the possibility that we could all band together here, MAKE LoM2 for ourselves, and distribute it for free with huge "FAN-MADE" disclaimers to avoid copyright problems?

I'd love to be involved, but I don't think I have the ability to create something like that alone.

Hi, I just registered to post in here. I'm not sure how serious you guys are in making a fan made sequel, but if you need a 3d artist, id be glad to help on my free time. I just moved so I'll be getting a pc in a week or two and then whenever im not at work, id love to have something to do. If you guys on the programming side seem like your pulling it off, I'd probably have some friends from college interested too. I played the first game like a crack addict when I was a kid so its definitely interesting material for me. A piece of recent work of mine from before I moved is at i.imgur.com/bY0IT.jpg and the majority of my work is on my blog at ironthrone.blogspot.com. I'm still a recent college grad with no official 3D work under my belt so I'd be glad to do what I can for free, and like I said, I could probably rally a few other people too. I probably wont bechecking this website very often so if you guys are interested feel free to email me at hoffmanp789@yahoo.com. Thanksand I can't wait to hear from you.

Well, that happens.
You know, I once found a strange community in Facebook named Lords of Magic 2: Rise of Golgoth. For some reason, the community was deleted just after I liked it. The only post there was promising an update soon, but like I said, it never made it.
For me, Rise of Golgoth is a really suitable name for a sequel. Pity that the title is bought by some noname company. The video game industry has seen better days.

You never know, after all, they have relaunched the Sierra brand as well as Sierra.com for their Indie stuff. It's probably some die-hard start-up developer full of freaks like us who bought the rights to LOM because they want a sequel as badly as we do. You never know. I never thought there would be another King's Quest game, and now one is on the way!

Well, Sierra adventure games were of another kind. They were very popular and never considered underrated, like LOMSE was.
My favourite was Space Quest, and it's still under Activision, forever waiting for its chance to be revived.

There are only a handful of LOM fans and it would never be a good financial move for the company to do a game in this condition. I just played again today after a few years and the potential for a sequel is there, but Id only like the developpers of the first game to work on it, and of course some guys on this forum like orzie and mantera and myself, otherwise its gonna fail for sure. that game has something very unique to it that only a few ppl can grasp. Ive seen art of other fans on this site that really dont cut it (sorry) and Im even ashamed of the art I did myself a few years back, I think they look bad and dont fit the game like I thought they did back then. Its clear to me that the developpers of LOM, when they created it, had all a grand vision and were passionate about it, you can feel it with the level of detail and polish (minus the bugs).

Well, basically the authors of LOM took too much and weren't able to handle everything. LOM had many innovative things, but none were brought to perfection. And [By the way], your artwork you did for my life lose cutscene pretty much fits the style I guess, at least for a qualified fan work.

The thing with the "handful of LOM fans" is not as relevant. Some good marketing would do the job of promoting and making sales rise. In how far would you guys say a LOM-remake for tablets would have a chance? Wouldn't necessarily be a sequel, but definitely it would make LOM come out of its coma.

No chance for sure. Real time fights on a tablet? Not even close, man.
Not even mentioning that LOM has flawed code in its core. The game was too rushed.

On the PC, you can pause the game, give your orders, then release the pause-bar, and watch the fight go on. Then you can pause it again, give other orders, and again release the pause-bar. Real time on a tablet PvP would be a problem. It is, however, possible, to have ordinary units auto-controlled during PvP, while players control the heroes, similar to CoD: Heroes. A little offtopic - I saw your sig. You are Russian, right? Just like me I joined the vk-group, but there's little news going on.

That community was also made by me, but people are completely atomized so I decided to save my time. I have several major mods development going on (the one being Heroes III In the Wake of Gods for example) and even barely have time to finish my Legend of Urak for now.
