I appreciate the offer and would be willing to compensate you for your time (i.e. buy the mod). However, I wouldn't want the time spent on the mod to conflict nor interfere with your work and general day-to-day affairs. Perhaps when time is in much more abundance for you and obligations are balanced, we can talk more on a potential custom mod. Until then good sir.

Hello! I am a big LOM fan and just discovered this fan niche. I am a programming student and very interested in learning how to mod this game as I have been playing it since I was a kid. Are you still accepting donations Boaster for the manual? Same price?

Yes, indeed.
If/when you do make a donation, please alert me so I can handle it quickly.
Thanks!

Ok just donated. I have a lot of respect for the work you have done, it's a shame this game didn't take off more because it was truly a diamond in the rough of its time.
Not many games I can pick up almost 10 years later and still have a blast.
Does anyone ever play this online anymore? I'm assuming there isn't a server or anything so people would just make their own virtual network and LAN it?

Well, GameRanger and Kali still work with it, and GS5 Mod is considerably more adapted for the multiplayer. Yet, there is a very little amount of players, and basically, those who play LOMSE are usually familiar with each other, so their matches are not random - they meet at GameRanger and play immediately without searching for already open lobbys. If I had more opportunity to play online these days, My GR would be constantly open. Damn, how many times already I set the date to start final work on the Life Quest?

Good to know there are at least a few players left, since the game is 10 years old or so.
I will definitely try it out soon. How does it work with battles multiplayer, do you have to autocalc everything? If not I could see some turns going on forever (ie flying ranged unit exploiting land trick to take down high level dungeon).

I think multi-player discussion would be best left to another thread.
But yes, turns sometimes go on for a long time.

Is there still an active link to purchase the GSM from in this thread?

Is there still an active link to purchase the GSM from in this thread? Looks like the links were killed when Proboads upgraded. It's on the website on the left side bar, where it says "Feel generous?" below faith of the month.

Donation sent, and by the way gratz for the great work on your mod, which I'm testing right now. If you were the one who sent via Skrill, that will not do. It would have to be the paypal button through the website with the label "Mantera" as viewed from Paypal.

Hello, did you create this Game Script Manual? Or is this hidden in the Lords of Magic: Special Edition codes? I don't have much modding experience, consider me a new person to this please. I want to make a super awesome Lords of Magic: Special Edition Mod just for personal use. Should I learn the code of the game or do you have programs of some sort that you use as tools? If I buy your game script manual, then will it help me add units into the game given the fact that I make new animations in the exact replication of the style that they were originally done in? I want to add 2 factions. And I want to make the map larger, and I want to redo all the code so the map is all better; so it is more planet-like in a real sense. I want to add some terrain, I want to make it so you can upgrade the cities more; I want to get it so other things can happen such as you can raze a city. Can you please help me with all of this? I'll pay you if you steer me on the right track alright? Thank you.

I'll pay you if you steer me on the right track alright? Thank you. I authored the document. The game script manual tells you just about all you'll need to get a jump head start over what I had. Yes, it even tells you what tools to use. It teaches you the very basics. Adding "new units" will be rather difficult for newbies, and new game sprites would be even more difficult, as even I haven't added new game sprites, per se. Adding new faiths is highly unlikely to be able to be done. The game script manual will teach you how to mod spells, artifacts and units on a basic level. It's a jump start, but it's not going to give you what you're looking for, unfortunately.

Thank you, I would like to add marijuana as a resource too (If I add a desert faction then I can have hashish-ans who were the first type of assassins that would require hash to do their suicide missions scaling walls of complex European castles during the crusades and murdering easily 100 people on average if it was a normal and successful attack run.). Maybe even Tin, Copper, Iron and so forth? Have you ever thought about the Lords of Magic faiths and their colors, while wondering if more could be added and trying to figure out how they were chosen and why? I need to figure this sort of thing out because I want the faiths and amount of faiths to be perfect, I want a perfect color wheel too. Hopefully they've already done it but for this mod I want to make, I want to make the standard map a 512 X 512 sized one if the standard size is 128 X 128 right now. 512 X 512 would possibly require more factions, maybe 4? So 2 elemental factions that are totally unique especially visually, and then 2 factions that are based on ways of life, which are unique in their own ways too. I've been frantically studying color so I can figure this out, maybe the answer is to study magic and all the types of it? (If there is such a thing.) I want it to feel just like Lords of Magic: Special Edition but I want it to eventually have good graphics, be more realistic, and maintain just as strong of the hard-fantasy part of the game. I have big ambitions for Lords of Magic, it can easily be the number 1 game in the world. Can you imagine if one day it got so big and popular that they made real life movies about it? With puppets though, you don't need C.G.I. You could pour as much money into a Lords of Magic film as they spent on Ben Hur; (Actually, you'd need at least 85& more money than the equivalent of the value of currency and wealth that was spent to make Ben Hur, You'd want to make it like a 3 hour long movie and maybe each one would be 3 hours long, there'd be an intermission and everything. It would revolutionize Hollywood and the entirety of the entertainment, creative, and artistic industries. That's long in the future though, (Unless we manage to succeed very fast.) I was thinking last night and the other night; that if you put an extremely large amount of energy into making a perfect well balanced; Class Creator, Structure Creator, Unit Creator, and Artifact Creator utilities in the game. So on you're turn, maybe you could forge certain weapons that you invent and name. Or you could create a new Building with it's own units such as the hashishan as what I was saying before; he could mainly require marijuanna, and he would require some gold, a tiny amount of ale, and maybe like 3 or less crystals. If copper, tin, and iron were added in the mod with tin then you could have 2 types of hashishan units that have 3 soldiers in it; just like infantry and missile units that have 1-3 units in them; you could have your bronze sword hashishans, or you could have your iron sword hashishans; and then have it re-searchable to have folded steal sword units too of both bronze and iron. And then you could design a hashishan unit that has like a large folded steal, 2 handed, iron sword. So then maybe your hashishan's movement speed would be automatically decreased but he would be able to cut through any armor of any knight and probably be able to use an ability such as stealth and assassinate. This is all just an example of how I would use utilities like that in Lords of Magic if they were offered. Sorry this was the length of an essay, I'll keep it shorter next time, thank you.

I only wanted to stop by to say thanks for your great modding work in general. I only found out about the GS5 mod about 3 weeks ago and it has already added about 100 hours of replay value to an old game that I had purchased out of nostalgia as I remembered it had some very unique systems for the genre & era. Anyway, I purchased the GSM earlier mostly to provide support with what I might have been willing to pay for such a mod in light of how much it improved my experience. However, now that I took a look at the GSM, I have just more interest and unanswered questions.
What I might have been most interested in modding my local version was in finding a way to make the game substantially more challenging since I enjoy min/maxing custom starts and they seem to make even hard far too easy.
Are there any tuning knobs in the GS files that could be used to try something like that or would I need to substantially change starting AI values across the board manually?
Thanks
