Hello visitors, guests and members! It's time for another GS5 Artifact Contest! I'm looking for individuals to create new artifacts to contribute to the GS5 series mod. Guidelines will be simple: 1. Create one artifact. 2. Be creative. 3. Artifact must function within the confines of the game (i.e. whatever is possible). 4. Abilities should fit to the artifact type (think of the Boots of Stealth). Provide the following information for the artifact you are submitting: 1. Artifact Name 2. What type of artifact? (Sword, Shield, Ring, etc.) 3. What it does. Two winners will be picked. Winners will receive mod contributor status. Winners will receive hidden knowledge of the Lord Editor. Artifact ideas submitted are subject to change in their implementation. Have fun! Here are the icons we have to work with:
All submissions must be entered on or before July 30. That's right, July 30th! (That's a jab at Julius Caesar! Hah!)

Is there a special way how artifacts can be "created", or do we just think of something, and you put it together?

Is there a special way how artifacts can be "created", or do we just think of something, and you put it together? You make it. The better you make it, the less likely it will need to be modified. So if someone wants to submit an artifact that looks like a scroll and adds +50 maximum hit points... that's just not very creative. And if it happens to be the case that only one person submits to the contest and that's what they put.… sure, I'll add it to the game, but it won't be a findable artifact. It'll be accessible by cheat only. I modify artifacts I create all the time. For example, all main Warrior armor's would replenish health after combat. I changed that to quarter health at the start of combat and also at the end of combat.

Cool. The only guideline I'm not a fan of is the first, cause I have quite a few ideas ...but here's one. Eyepatch of the Wanderer: Any champion who wears this artifact will permanently sacrifice 4 sight radius, but will gain the ability to cast Seer Spell and Wanderlust once per turn. The champion will furthermore gain wisdom equivalent to his current level, 15% resistance to all magics, and 2 movement; Order and Air mages gain an additional 2 wisdom.

hmm, let me try to rephrase my question. i am not sure about the format in which i create the artifact.
Do i somehow mod the game, create a special file, like "cool_sword.artifact", or send you a verbal description with a picture?
I have not done something like this with lomse before, and i am not sure how i would do this. Is there an artifact editor or something like that?

Hmm, thought more people would have had ideas. Oh well. Here are a few more I thought of...I hope you will excuse my failure to use the pics you provided; IMO there are probably enough swords and whatnot, and any artifact worth making is probably worth making a new icon for...
Flute of the Eldren (OTHER) -Can Cast Pacify and Summon Unicorn once per turn. -Also casts morale at the beginning of battle. -Improves wisdom by 4 -Provides 10% resistance to Chaos, Fire, and Death magic for champion’s army.
Ragethorn Root (OTHER) -Not an artifact in the sense that it can be equipped and removed, but a powerful herb that can be consumed (like a scroll) -Found mostly in Chaos dungeons or high-level marauding parties (not sure if this is possible). -Provides +7 max hp, but deals 90% damage initially. (Life, Water, and Order champions lose 7 hp permanently) -All but one wisdom is permanently transferred to strength, except for Chaos mages, who keep X/2 wisdom and gain an X increase in strength. -Overland healing rate reduced by 1. -Attack rate increased by 3 -Speed in combat improved by 2 (again, not sure if this is possible).
Ghostly Pendant (AMULET) -Champion gains 55% missile and melee resistance and 4 hit recovery. -Champion loses 100% life resistance If hp falls below 5, champion permanently turns into a death shade.
Crown of Brotherhood (CROWN) -Slowly increases the political states of all faiths (except death) when wielded. -Provides half of champion’s current level of fame per turn (X/2) +7 Wisdom, +2 armor, 10% melee/missile resistance and 25% death and chaos resistance. -+2 gold/turn. -Usable by all non-death and non-chaos champions. -(If possible) can cast an overland spell that HEALS allied armies, increases their visibility and movement by 15%
Wand of the Gnomes (STAFF) -Casts Detect Cave, provides X/3 Crystals per turn. -Adds 4 strength, 8 hp, 35% air resistance, and 4 mana. -Usable by all but Air or Fire mages.
Centaur’s Quiver (WEAPON/ACCESSORY) -Arrows, darts or bolts are drawn forth quickly from this quiver, giving the wielder +4 rate of fire, +2 dexterity, and +3 missile speed. -Gives 15 (+ level) % chance to unleash multiple arrows. +4 bonus attack against chaos creatures -4 attack against order creatures -Usable by all thieves except death and chaos.
Horn of Prosperity (OTHER) +4 Luck, +2 Armor, and one of every resource per turn. -Casts Windmills -Can be used in battle like a warrior's rally ability.
Phoenix-Feather Cloak (CLOAK) -Champion gains 2 armor, 3 for Life or Fire champions -Champion gains 4 fame/turn and 35% resistance to fire magic -If champion dies in combat, but the champion’s army wins, he is resurrected with full hp.
Bridle of Beasts (OTHER) Increases movement of any mounted champion (including Balkoth) by 2 Improves hit recovery and dexterity by 3.

Interesting artifacts. However, some of them contain things that are not at all possible.
And you need to pick which one you want entered into the contest.

Alright, then let's go with the Crown of Brotherhood (if it's possible, like a reverse Gontherine's Ring). If that's not possible then the Centaur's Quiver

Is there a due date? I'd like to wait until my exams are over before I submit.

Hmm...
Blade of Alric (Sword) Usable by all champions Not so much an actual sword used for battle, but more of a magical artifact and status symbol. Legend said a mage-warrior from another world once wielded this sword to fell hordes of raging beasts with steel and magic, yet it was lost to the portals when he willingly gave it up upon being told a prophecy that one day, he would turn into a beast himself and destroy all that he once raised up. This sword now finds itself amongst the Urakians, ready to serve any master lucky enough to find it.
+3 fame per turn All champions +3 armor, +3 wisdom, +3 luck Warriors only: Can cast flame sword and heat shield once per turn. Mages only: Can cast guardian waves and protection once per turn. Thieves only: Can cast Chain Lightning and Create Rocks once per turn.

The winning artifacts (with modifications): Ghostly Pendant (AMULET), by myrrdin * +50% missile and melee resistance * +8 hit recovery. * All Magic Resistance equal zero. * In physical combat, the Champion will transform into a Skeleton, Shade or a Vampire (depending on level) and destroy the amulet if an Attacker does more damage than the wielder has current health remaining.
Blade of Swords (Sword), by skitarri Usable by all champions * +3 Fame/turn * +3 Wisdom * Each turn (including turns of other players), the Sword will change its castable spell to a sabre spell opposite to that of the faith of the current player's turn. (i.e. Chaos Sabre on Order's turn).
Congrats to Myrrdin, and Skitarri, the only contestants! That was easy wasn't it?
