Hello all, I'm from Russia and i've been playing LOMSE for 10-12 years (of course with breaks , i.e. since my childhood and just at previous month I have discovered your GS5R3 mod, which inspired me again. In ancient times (;D) I liked the game and quest pack so much that I tried many times to create my own legends for either the same and different faiths not listed in the current pack. But I could not do anything since I was a boy without proper knowledge of programming. I know that opening quest maps in map editor gives the information that quest encounters are held in main game data file and you can set e.g. Castle Cameliard onto the Original Urak Map. Also i tried opening encounter battle maps in the editor and i got some interesting effect. But is there a way to create your own encounters and integrate it in the quest file like it was already done to five legends? The same question about the encounter terrain editor. This could be urgent to the creation of new legends even without changing a starting screen "choose your leader and embark on your journey", using savegames, like it is in A Call For Heroes. It comes to me that original game authors used some kind of quest editor, though we are not able to get it now.

To create new encounters, you would have to edit and change current encounters, or copy/create new ones. You would then have to edit the GS.mpq to direct the game to each new encounter type in the game. I've added a few new encounter types to the game: Frost Dragon Cave, Demon Cave and Undead Village.

Wow, thanks a lot. Gonna try something when i've got free time. And what about starting screen of an encounter (attack/retreat/autocalc)? Is there a way to write your own text? If so, i wonder why somebody did not have created new quests by the current time

Well, i spent some hours breaking into the game's code and i found out that creating a quest is not an incredible thing. Even without creating new special encounters it is possible to make a proper interface with that Mission Objectives scroll, starting popup window etc. Looks like that original game was planned to be with nine quests, but, like it always is in industry, time runs like hell and you understand. Now i'm experiencing problems with packing gs.mpq with my files to scenario dir. Even when i copy the original file "life.gs" to disk and then copy it back to mpq, the game crashes telling me that gs.mpq is corrupted. This may sound silly, but what do I do wrong? I am using Ladik's MPQ Editor. Also, I guess, the topic becomes more related to LOMSE Modding, I am sorry

Nvm, all problems are dealt with. Soon I will be able to present some interesting stuff concerning a new legend of urak (accessible through the main menu as the original ones).

The only thing i'm shy of is that Elven Prince pegasus is too heavy to slip properly through the life arch Can't wait for my stipend to gain access to game script manual.

Sounds like someone is using the GS5R3 mod for the quests. Sweet! You bet Usage of GS5R3 is a very logical decision, depending on a vast number of factors, such as fixed mouse speed. Well, at the moment I'm not so interested in modding a game, but adding new quests to it. Ten years ago I was quite well satisfied with the original LOMSE, and now I'm pretty satisfied w/GS5R3. Well, Elven Prince is an optional character. By the way, Sierra planned an Elven Thief Leader in Life Quest, as I could learn from unused content. Frankly, I still wonder how to imply properly a flying character as a starting unit. Also, this one is a very strong unit, especially experienced, so it will be difficult to make a challenge. But the work goes on, as long as my inspiration burns again.

Man...makes me wish I nurtured and pursued that aptitude in my younger years. But ya know....life happens in the way that it does and potential dreams get forgotten or made impossible. Meh, it is what it is.
I'll be checking back every now and again, with the intent of observing progress on this new Life Quest you're putting together.
Anyway, sounds like you know your stuff, hands-down, just like Boaster. Just wanted to convey my avid support and anticipation to you, orz!

The topic about my quest is called "New GS5R3 Legend Teaser". It is very close to the first playable release. Also, feel free to check my YouTube channel dedicated to LOMSE and its fan-created content, as well as Quest Mod Database page for fresh updates. I am really amazed what happened through this year. I did not know if I ever would succeed, and my working folders are still called "Quest Attempt" - however, everything goes fine and I will be able to provide a new quest soon, playable and completeable, comparable to the Order Quest in its size.
