This is a weird question, but... do any of you show a preference toward either the turn-based world view or the RTS combat view? I just want to have a general idea of what fellow LOMSE fans lean toward to. That is, if you have any leanings.

This may sound strange, but I adore the game as it is. Although the majority will choose pure TBS as I suppose, like Age of Wonders.
You did not mention the big RPG element in the game which is also important. The thing that makes the game interesting and unique is this alloy of listed genres. We could not see the uniqueness in Lords of the Realm II, which was itself a mix between TBS and RTS like LOM. That was a fine game too though. Moreover, in LOM this RPG admixture also allowed to do roleplays, which was later used in Legends of Urak, which are adored by me as well.
I think, turn-based combat would make LOMSE boring at least in multiplayer. It is a scourge of all TBS games - bare possibility to play with more players than 1, otherwise the game can last for weeks. Lords of Magic multiplayer sometimes is a long thing already, for the TBS part is strong and micromanagement takes more and more time upon capturing new territories.
For me, Lords of Magic goes perfect with TBS global map, RTS combat with the ability of pausing and RPG elements concerning every unit.

I agree. LOM is a perfect blend of both. Boaster is doing a PHENOMENAL job keeping this game alive for us! And for such a long time, at that! Consistently.

Well, there are always some people who prefer to stick to the genre purity. Moreover, we must admit that some features regarding to certain subgenres are implemented really poor in LOMSE. But that doesn't work for diehard fans like us who still isn't ashamed to say he/she loves Lords of Magic.
Also, don't worry about the wrong topic, a new discussion is always interesting.
