So, I just got nostalgic this morning, recalling the other classic PC games I played around the same time LOM was released, and I was playing it.
Alongside LOM, I was playing King's Quest 8: Mask of Eternity, Betrayal in Antara and Dungeon Keeper.
So, I thought I'd just post a thread asking you guys to share, if you are so inclined.
What PC games were you playing during the same time you played LOM?

Oh, what a good thread. I was raiding the CD shops today in search of those games on pirate and license CDs, being sold with a 90% discount to complete the collection. It's very hard to find 1990's CDs now in stores, we have to use different sources.
Well, when I first played LOM (about 10-12 years ago), I also loved a certain list of games which I treat now as a treasure.
- Heroes of Might and Magic II, ultimately preferred to HMMIII, which was unusual - usually it's vice versa all over the world; - Might and Magic VI Demo - I did not have the full version at that time, but loved even this scrap very much and MM6-8 are still one of my favourite CRPG games; - X-COM: Ufo Defence and X-COM2: Terror from the Deep, which introduced to me the Turn-Based Tactics genre; - Incubation: Battle Isle 4 - also Tactics, but in 3D; - Duke Nukem 3D, the first FPS I tried and still prefer it to Doom and others; - Death Rally, the racing game with Duke Nukem as one of the playable characters, hehe; - Sid Meier's Colonization, a game which made me interested in American history of that time; - Starcraft and Starcraft: BroodWar for sure; - Lords of the Realm 2, another TBS with RTS combat from Sierra Impressions, medieval-styled; - Allods (known in other countries as Rage of Mages, it is a Russian game) - Space Quest 1-4-5, along with Leisure Suit Larry 1 (all VGA) amazing adventure series by Sierra; - Some others, don't remember correctly.
Well, the thing is that I always returned to LOMSE after a 1-2 year break, so I reinstalled it for 5 or 7 times, if I recall correctly. All these periods are marked with various games, to name a few: Fallout, Rim, Rage of Mages, Space Rangers, Half-Life, and many, many others.
However, my best favourites are still the same - LOMSE on the 1st place, then HOMMII, Fallout 1-2, Might and Magic 6-8, Duke Nukem, Starcraft and a few others as well.

Ah, and of course, Star Control II, which gave me my nickname. ;D

Yeah! LOM is one of the games that has me coming back to it, every time. The others are Dungeon Keeper and StarCraft.
This, in my opinion, is the true telling of whether or not a game is true "jewel," for lack of a better term.
So...who else wants to spill the beans? Anyone else that frequents this forum? Don't be shy! Post as a guest, if you must, yo!

When i first played Starcraft, i was already used to Warcraft 3, and all i could think was "i could make this whole game in the wc3 editor...", so i never became a big fan of Starcraft.

Haha, well, it's just got its way to you too late. Speaking of WCIII, this game editor abilities are very impressive. Actually, there are a lot of Starcraft-dedicated maps, even with notable RPG element, which Starcraft did not obtain.

Zeus: Master of Olympus. This is the game that I was looking for (since a friend had it and I liked it), and when I found it at a store, it was being sold together with LOMSE for $10 for both. So I got the pack, and I never thought I would like LOMSE so much that I would play it more than Zeus.

To this date, I cannot think of a greater game than lords of magic. Playing as an order paladin has instilled endless enjoy in merely the term paladin for myself. I hope to some day create a game comparable to it.

The first games i ever played at home on a pc was actually those pre-invader type never-ending side scrolling space shooters that were black and white. I had a really old computer that could only run these types of games so i generally was more in that stage of SNES and N64 at friend's houses ect. My dad was into computer's since they were first released commercially and i learned to use them when i was really young. Anyways when i would go to see my dad most of the time if we weren't playing chess i would be on his computer playing Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Rise of the Triads, but mostly Quake, I played a lot a friggin Quake like shit. My dad loved the game and how it broke all these boundaries in polygon graphics ect and the dark scary ambience. I had a best friend who had a lot of friends around his house and we used to all gather round and play Quake and Diablo on pc and a hell of a lot of golden eye 64 [Laugh out Loud]. I had another friend that i grew up with that lived in my coop building, my sister used to babysit him, anyways he was really into games and enlightened me on text based MUD games and i remember playing those quite a bit. He was also a huge fan of Worms Armageddon and totally got me into that game bigtime, which i still think is one of the best games ever made (especially the "new edition"). And then the was Lords of the Realm 2 when i got my newer pc it was the first game i remember having and playing a lot. Also broodwar a hell of a lot, mechwarrior 2 mercenaries, carmageddon, myst, homeworld, decent, apache, cannon fodder, assault trooper, lemmings, age of empires, and of coarse lords of magic: se.
Recap Scores (At that time around LOM's age):
Most played games: Lords of the Realm 2, Quake, Diablo, Broodwar, Carmageddon, MW2: Mercenaries, Worms Armageddon, Lords of Magic, Age of Empires, Street Fighter 2 (SNES or arcade).
Best Games IMO: 1 Fallout2, 2 Lords of Magic, 3 Quake, 4 Diablo, 5 Worms Armageddon.

I have enjoyed these along with LOM and LOMSE(had to buy it for quests)
Warcraft 1-3 Starcraft/broodwar, Majesty(so good as multiplayer fantasy kingdom Sim still available on Steam for 5 bucks) Diablo 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate, Temple of elemental evil, HoMM3, Descent, old school Dnd games such as Dark Sun wake of the Ravager, Duke Nukem, Doom, and Xcom think were all close to when I played LOM but I have and have played hundreds of other games on almost all consoles and really loved SNES and some NES titles like Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World but really loved Actraiser, Chrono Trigger, TMNT turtles in time and Final Fantasy 3. Wife and I spent tons of time coop on Champions of Norrath and Return to Arms as well as Diablo 2.
