I have all of the frames cropped down to their minimum selectable area. In other words, there's no extra space beyond the square box that is the sprite itself. When I have time, which should be tomorrow after work, I will send you the images of the Fire Dwarf Warlord... if you don't mind. You'd have more time to experiment than I would. I would be honored! I have already compiled the 00-move frames and it is working! I did have initial trouble because I don't think LOMUT likes folder paths with spaces in the name... Also I did see the LOMUT expects a 512X512 image message I have never seen before... But... Right now its working! Unfortunately today is my one day shift so I wont have it all ready until I get back off work Other than that it's looking good! I guess I should upload the IMP files here or would you rather I email it to you? -Eyes

Yeah, go ahead and email it to me.
So did you have to change anything with the pictures?

Yeah, go ahead and email it to me. So did you have to change anything with the pictures? Hey! Sorry it is taking way longer than expected! I did have to make two important changes: - I changed the dimension of the images...
- i changed the Palette index of the images...
You had the correct colors for the Palette but just not in the right order! I am not even too sure how that happens... Some sizes you had I also need to change (odd numbers seem to crash LOMUT 39,29 etc) Here is what I confirmed about LOMUT: - Incorrect Dimension sizes may compile (The resulting IMP will be unstable -I will elaborate)
- Incorrect Palette indexes will NEVER compile and crash LOMUT
INCORRECT DIMENSIONS Incorrect image sizes will compile with LOMUT... HOWEVER the IMP does not work and is all jumbled... very interesting to take note... So there you have it... LOMUT will always crash when a predefined Palette Index is not found(no IMP produced at all)*I exported a Palette from unpacked iface\fiicons image to use* LOMUT will work with some dimensions sizes but not all are viable( IMP produced but scrambled See above image) LOMUT will crash with certain dimensions (no IMP produced at all) It is better to have incorrect size than incorrect Palette Index as LOMUT will always crash from what I see with incorrect Palette index order But correct size is still key! I am barely getting started compiling your IMP so it make take 1 or 2 days but maybe as soon as a few hours... lets see! Some preliminary test show hotspot bug gone from Fire Dwarven!!! Just need to resize and rePalette the rest of the frames!!! (I only have stand and move done) Ill keep you posted! Here is results showing hotspot bug eliminated from the Fire Dwarven sprite work so far (walk here cursor appears very close) -EyeS

From that image, it looks like the shadow, which is palette entry #2, looks like it's got a red outline. So there must be 2 reds in play on that part... which is what makes palette changing a mess.
Also, he has a green (palette entry #1) outline.
But it's a work in progress! You've made great finds!

I found another red at #113 or something … So far all I have been able to do is fix the outline I think but the shadow looks missing! I Love you LOMSE... Back to square (or frame 1)…

Hey I think I figured out what I am doing wrong with the Fire Dwarven sprite... I used fiicons instead of the original palette from the imps\units\ pcx files
I need fildfa.imp but lost my LOMSE backups on my D:\drive and now have only my heavily modded files! Can you fix the imp to pcx file link Or else maybe upload fildfa.imp and fildab.imp originals because I specifically lost those while modding and I think that will solve the lost shadow issue as fiicon and other iface sprites have no shadows and thus maybe use palette entry #2 as something else... I might have a backup imp of original somewhere... Ill try to figure something out in the between time...

Okay from what I can tell all units of a faith have similar palettes So I took the palette from the fire wizard lord and now the fire dwarf has a shadow! and it is not outlined either so it looks normal...
hopefully the rest goes smoothly... we will see...

That's good. Otherwise, it would have created additional steps to correct for the red colors.
One Sprite I tried doing color modifications to, was the Fire Dwarf Thief. Colorizing him for Earth. This one was super complicated, as I recall, because of his cloak being red and also being shadowed in-game. So some of his red colors on his cloak were the translucent red.

Hey I sent you an email (to Dan San Hotmail) with the fild1a compiled... still working on fild1b...
Let me know if you find any problems (scrambled sprites, palette issues, invisible frames, etc.) I have tested somewhat but not to perfection... Also I am using this imp as fildfa.imp so the frames do not match up with the how you have FILD1A set up(corpse and rally appear switched with get hit...) So I cannot test thoroughly without making a GS that matches... anyway let me know I am working to complete the rest!

Hey! Just completed FILD1B.imp!
Looks like LOMUT can handle most even number frames but hates odd number frames
So I was wrong about LOMUT telling perfect frame sizes, it gets you close only... Round up to nearest even number Example: 29X63 into 30X64
Looks like original sprites could be any frame size but LOMUT only allows certain numbers... Even numbers to be exact... I have not found one yet that LOMUT does not like... I have found that 57 works well with 38 and 40 however those are the only odd number combinations that are viable... We must try are best to crop frames to even numbers!!!
Let me know if your Fire Dwarf passes the smell test, etc.
Take Care -EyeS

Seems that you're making a nice progress. Keep rolling on! I'm kinda curious about the final result. Adding new units is a dream.

The block animation facing north east.
Also the attack animation seems to wobble a bit.
Also the health bar seems to stick up high over the dwarf compared to the original sprite.
These seem to be the only hiccups so far.
Otherwise, looking good!
Maybe the attack animations should all be squared to the same size?

Hey sorry for the late reply...
Yes I see the wobble now, I will work on squaring the frames of the attack to make them isometric... Hopefully that will be easy and we can fine tune it to perfection...
The hard part is the health bar, it has gotten me perplexed! It is abnormally high above, I thought maybe the dwarf is already short but no, that is not the case... I wonder if, at least for me, it has anything to do with the fact that a fire giant used to be there, (health bars hardwired in game- I hope not!) I will do some experiments to determine as even the tallest frame of the sprite does not reach that high so I have no solid leads. It really is wierd, any higher would be ridiculous. Anyway I will work on that...
Oh I would like to believe the blocking animation is human error hopefully and can be resolved... I looked really quick but did not notice any mistakes however I need to be more thorough on the matter...I may try to make a GS to test the FILD1A.imp that a way I can run full diagnostic on that issue...
All in all we discovered new problems to watch out for... uncharted territory gentlemen- it is so exciting!
Ill try my best to fix these things but I am moving today again (I am in Dallas on the same street as the hospital with Ebola good thing I was moving away regardless) So if that goes smoothly I can start to really tackle some of these things... Ill report back shortly Take Care Peace -EyeS

I don't know that the health bar has to do with replacing the Fire Giant, because in my tests, I replaced the Earth Dwarf.
Just wanted to add that in there.

Hey... sorry guys my laptop battery burned out- I am ordering a new one pretty cheap hopefully it comes soon... Untill then I have been thinking of 'thought experiments' so I can reign in these problems... I was watching my old video on hotspot testing and noticed the full range of health bar positions... one was too high one was too low (covered the face) and one was just right... So there is a way... hopefully I can get back online soon... if I didnt know better I would say your red dwarf was cursed! Together we will Subdue this beast... ill keep you all updated... -EyeS

UPDATE: The internal battery of my laptop also needs to replaced... so I finally (luckily) got my Desktop PC out of storage. It has taken me several days to get all the necessary programs to mod installed and ready... Losing my laptop has crippled me greatly however now I am functioning! Now that I have LOMUT and everything working I am back in business... I have located at least three frames that need to be corrected so that should fix the block animations... I am finally going to get to start to try and fix the wobble on attack frames so I really hope that solves that issue... As for the health bar glitch, I hope by starting from scratch I will be able pinpoint exactly why it happens...
Hopefully I can get beta version 2 of your fire dwarf compiled within the week!
Take care =EyeS

Please forgive me for my absence, I have moved eight times this year, and now that I got my computer out of storage I find my hard drive burned out! Im starting all over... I hope to have your fire dwarf complete for round two of testing, I was so close then boom, life...
Anyway how are you these days? Looks like you guys are making progress modifying LOMUT ?
The method I use does solve selectable area bug and sprite mirrorring, however it appears crude compared with what Ozz is doing now, as I am manually constructing the IMP whereas if LOMUT can be completed then it may make my way obselete... Or they could be two sides of the same coin...
Hope to contact you soon
Thanks! -EyeS
