Hello everyone! I've been a huge fan of this game for eons but didn't know that there was an active community of fans! This is wonderful! I stumbled upon this place while trying to find a way to extract the animations from the game, so maybe this is the correct place to post hehe. Please forgive me if not

I've noticed that some time back some of you expressed an interest in an MMO version of LOM. Well, to very limited extent I've tried to do this! Now before you get very excited, it's not LOM and it's not perfect [Laugh out Loud]. I would appreciate some help to make it better though part of making it better would be extracting the animations from the game so that I can find a way to import them into my files.

If anyone is interested in this, please message me! It's certainly operational and has had players since about 2005 It's free, and I've been a part of it since about 2007 and been the administrator, scripter, and patcher for it since about 2010. Since my time as administrator, I've tried to incorporate elements from LOM into it (as I said, it's not LOM heh) and have done so to a limited extent. If you could help that would be much appreciated, or if you just want to join and play to have some fun and enjoy LOM in a new way, that would be great too! We'd certainly love to have you! We have mature, experienced staff and a mature player base. We enjoy RP but are not strict about it. However, the unfortunate part about having a mature player base is that adults such as ourselves have a lot of real life things that take up our time heh. As such the amount of people we have with us may be pretty good but the amount online at any given time is generally not so much heh. However, the more we have join us the more we hope to see those numbers rise

All that being said, MMOs and RP might not be your cup of tea, but I am still certainly glad to have discovered this place and still hope that you can help me in my quest

By the way, if you did join me, it would be neat to have people there who can actually get and appreciate my LOM references! [Laugh out Loud]

Yes, it is possible to extract the creature animations from the game. There is a tool called LOMUT (Lords of Magic Utility) which has a function of unpacking IMP sprites which are placed in IMP.MPQ (can be opened with WinMPQ or Ladik's MPQ Editor).
It's a bit unconvenient in use, but still functional.

Note, however, that the IMP sprites unpacked don't always consist of 1 set of frames for each animation type. In many cases there are mounts (horses, lizards, wolves, etc.) and wings (in case of the Pegasi) which are animated independently from the main body, and this is why you will have to compile them somehow.

Hope you'll get along fine with the tool.

Well, all I can say is good luck.

Note that LOMSE is currently copyrighted by some noname company, so you might experience some problems if they decide to pursue you for using the graphics.

And so using the revive spell from the books of life magic, I've revived myself on here and this thread! I must be above even level 12 because this thread's been dead for ages [Laugh out Loud]. Well, my server is going well. I don't know that I'm going to incorporate anymore LOM elements into it than it already has. I was able to acquire many animations, but it's just a lot of work to put them into the game so I've put that project on a back burner. However, it's still up and running if any are interested in joining

All that said, now onto the real reason I'm here! I've been playing LOMSE again and was wondering if there is any wild way of getting marauders to join you? I've thought of a few things, but wondering if anyone here knows a real way to do it. Here are the ways I've thought of:

Possession spell then earth meld them out of combat - didn't work as they were just listed as dead at the end

Possession spell then kill them and revive them with life magic... don't remember if I got to try that one for sure but I seem to remember it not working.

Those were my two ideas. I hope you all have better ideas!

Capture a village, build the building (barracks or guild) to build orcs or centaurs.

This is only in the mod, of course.

Or go to battle, let a unit die and then reincarnate spell on the corpse.

what? I don't know that I've ever seen it work that way. When I conquer a village, I only get the option to built the buildings of the faiths it is associated with.

Not the village, but the barracks or guild, as I said.

They're only hireable as Mercenaries.

If you're Chaos and get the Witch Lord or Orc Warlord, you can train Orcs instead of Barbarians in your native buildings.
