Hey fellas, it's been a little while. Good to be back.
So I'm trying to view and edit LOMSE unit sprites in imp.mpq. I can see the list of files with MPQ editor, but I don't know how to actually see the character sprites. Help a brutha' out.
Thanks

You would want to use the program posted by one of the other forum members. It's called LOMUT, If I recall correctly. It's basically a very basic dos-like program that will decompile IMP files into BMP or PNG files.
There may already be a link somewhere in the forum with a RAR archive containing all of the IMP sprites converted already.

So I got LOMUT and used it (the command prompt finishes before I can read it, so I'm not exactly sure of all the steps it's doing...Anyway, it output a folder full of terrain images, mage tower images, artifacts, dungeon loading screens, unit portraits, basically everything but the actual unit sprites. I'm not sure how to tweak the settings on it to have it output those sprites.
And I know there was a thread where someone mentioned wanting to post all the converted pcx sprites, but they didn't post them in that thread. There may be another, I may have to look around later.

Yeah, so there are only 2 threads that mention pcx. One of them has a link, but it's long dead. Would you reupload the file or give some troubleshooting recommendations for LOMUT?

Heya, dude. Long time no see. Well, all I can say is that LOMUT is unfinished and even money was powerless to persuade its author (also russian hehe) to finish it. The import is still buggy which was discussed in that thread, although IIRC the topicstarter was successful in adding a working creature to the game.

Hmm, I had heard about the trouble with recompiling. For now I'd just like to view the sprites, and I hear that there has been success in converting them to PCX. Could you message/email me with a link to them?
