This is re-posted from my Steam discussions thread and wanted it here as well. These custom setups i created were for vanilla and i will be making the adjustments soon.
A new thread devoted to creating and sharing legit custom game setups.
Will be adding more here as i progress with ideas and have more time to experiment.
Please post your own custom game setups or suggestions to help improve this thread.
Here are my game setups i have created so far using legit barter points and no glitches.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy Custom Game Setups:
"Tremor Warrior" Earth Warrior [2308 Starting Points] (Temple Liberation in 2 Turns):
1 - Sell one full level of exp for barter points which puts you at 2833 points with a warlord level of exactly 3 (earth warrior starts 1 level higher than most other warlords).
2 - Purchase "Greater Artifact - Axe of Mauling" for 1848 points (2nd row from the top).
3 - With the 2000 exp boost from Axe of Mauling puts you at level 5.5, now resell the last bit of exp the game will allow which will set you at level 5 with 2000 exp and 1152 points.
4 - Purchase two Dwarven Infantry and a full level for each which leaves you with 74.
5 - Purchase 14 ale with your remaining points.
Probably one of the best artifacts in the game imo for its low cost to good boosts ratio giving you a hefty boost of 2000 exp, +3 attack, +3 rate of attack, +1 fame per day, and ability to cast tremor with no daily limit! This is an item ability and not a learnable spell. No need for starting resources when you can walk straight west in 2 turns and liberate the G temple for 100 crystals 20 gold and a few ale plus 10 followers to start on production next turn. Upon liberation you will also score a Goldenrod (equip on mage). On top of that you only lose 1 of your level 2 infantry to liberate and can keep the other one healed so he can level with your main army. You also quickly gain resources from the surrounding level 1 or 2 caves, with your level 5 warlord and level 2 infantry you can defeat the level 2 caves just make sure you keep the infantry healed at least 75% before the next encounter so he can survive and keep his experience. When in combat for important fights remember to use tremor whenever you can, believe or not there is no daily limit on casting it and it requires no mana to use, it doesn't seem to do much but damage a few enemies in an area but it definitely helps early on.
"Firedart Warrior" Fire Warrior [2830 Starting Points] (Temple Liberation in 1 Turn):
1 - Purchase "Greater Artifact - Sword of Flames" for 1290 points (top right corner).
2 - Purchase "Dragonscale Armor" for 908 points (top left corner) which leaves you 632.
3 - Purchase "Fire Elemental" unit for 404 points leaving you with 228 points.
4 - Purchase 44 ale with your remaining points.
The combination of these 2 items together works extremely well in combat and gives an already strong fire warlord an extremely powerful boost especially in the early game. Dont forget to cast firedart in combat as much as possible with a max of 6 times per day with no mana cost. When you start follow the road southwest to the G temple and liberate in one turn, your Flame Elemental will survive with almost no health. Heal him then start in on clearing the low caves in your area.
"Morale Paladin" Order Warrior [2876 Starting Points] (Temple Liberation in 3 Turns):
1 - Purchase "Greater Artifact - Guardian" for 1638 points (middle area a bit northwest).
2 - Purchase "Shield of Righteousness" for 820 points (2 items to the right of Gaurdian).
3 - Purchase two level 1 Footmen (infantry) which leaves you with 182 points.
4 - Purchase 36 ale with your remaining points.
Another extremely powerful item combination for the early game. Multiple army buffs means your low level units are stronger and have a bit more suvivability. This helps early on when you can get your units to level up and keep them leveling with your main army. Your warlord will now be a badass getting +3 luck and +3 attack from Guardian as well as the buffs from Morale and Leadership which puts his attack up to +5 on the first turn! Also using the Guardian Artifact gives your warlord a 10% on hit to kill ANY unit instantly! Shield of Righteousness adds a nice little start bonus of 500 exp and 1 fame per turn. Starting out walk mostly north and a little bit to the east directly above your city. Continue north to the G temple and enter combat to Liberate. Gaurdian automatically casts Morale when you enter combat (+1 attack and +1 armor) and you can then cast leadership to further boost your units (+1 attack to party) before mowing down the mobs to finish your liberation. Remember to cast leadership on your main melee party before important encounters for that extra 2nd boost to attack at no mana cost.
"Righteous Ranger" Order Thief [2264 Starting Points] (Temple Liberation in 3 Turns):
1 - Sell one full level of experience for barter points which puts you at 2680 points with a warlord level of exactly 3 (thieves start at level 4 instead of 3 as with warlords).
2 - Purchase "Greater Artifact - Crossbow of Balance" 1260 points (2nd row from right).
3 - Purchase "Ring of Concentration" for 1328 points (one over left of the Crossbow).
4 - Now being at a thieflord level just over 4 you resell the extra exp from the ring bonus as much as you can leaving you with 3 levels, 500 exp (quarter level), and 412 points.
5 - Purchase two level 1 Footmen (infantry) for 118 points each leaving you with 176.
5 - Purchase 34 ale with your remaining points.
Very powerful thieflord build giving significant stat boosts with improved sight and stealth. The total benefits of this item combination are huge. Very powerful combat stats with one of the best thieves starting at 11 ranged attack, 9 attack, 9 defense, 16 health. On top of great base thieflord stats these two Artifacts will grace you with +3 ranged attack, +4 rate of attack, +2 missile range (ranged attack's projectile range), +4 health, +4 moving, +3 luck, 500 exp, +2 sight radius, +2 levels of stealth, and ability to cast Righteous Bolt three times a day for low single target damage at 3 (and 1/3 per level). Starting out walk north and a bit east right above your city and go north to G temple. Better to auctocalc this liberation battle losing the two infanty but gaining a thieflord level. Equip the Sword of Quality on the liberated paladin and begin clearing low level huts.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Medium Custom Game Setups:
"Backdraft Mage" Fire Mage [2052 Starting Points] (Temple Liberation in 1 Turn):
1 - Purchase "Greater Artifact - Staff of Incineration" for 1728 points (top left corner).
2 - Purchase two Flame Beserkers both level 1 for 133 points each leaving you with 58.
3 - Purchase 10 ale with your remaining points.
This staff is very strong for a fire mage and is effective until late game.
The staff has great boosts of +6 mana, +3 armor, +50% resistance to water with +25% resistance to ALL other magic, and can cast Backdraft (multiple fireball spell) twice a day.
Also using this staff gives your magelord a 20% chance of scalding ANY melee attackers. When you start walk southeast and liberate in one turn, use autocalc. I tried to combat this one and it's actually pretty tricky, once you cast Backdraft because its a higher damage output than your infantry units the ai immediately starts going after you and your magelord will die. So use autocalc, you lose both level 1 Beserkers but your Magelord levels up and is left at full health. You can then add the two liberated champions to your army and begin clearing the low level caves in your area.
