Back in 2013 I spent a good while on developing the new Legend for LOMSE based on GS5 (GS5R3 at that time). Having almost finished 1/2 of the quest, I left for other frontiers.
However, recently I was contacted by Boaster and got a clue that the quest may still be included in the official release.
This brought me some motivation so probably at least 1st part of the quest (fully playable and sized like the classic Order quest) may see the light.
General Quest information:
Character: Elven Prince
Map Size: 256x256 (4x normal)
Looks like: Average between Order (lots of encounters, noble playing style) and Earth (complicated scripts, a continuing story, a journey atmosphere) Quests
The general idea of the quest was a long-time journey of a flying champion, the Elven Prince, who gathers companions, completes various quests and explores the vast land of Urak. The focus in combat is made towards the Elven Prince's exceptional combat statistics and the ability to learn magic with a selection of artifacts having controversial properties to make the artifact wielding concept more dynamic from one encounter to another.
The quest was intended to be divided in 2 parts. The first part takes place in the archipelago where the Elven Prince confronts the numerous sea raiders and has an option to contact Order and Water and receive their gratitude for completing their quests. This part ends upon the defeat of the leader of the raiders and the Witch Queen.
The second part, which has much less chances to see the light, was intended to take place on a continent where the Elven Prince has an option to influence on the destiny of the Earth and Fire factions, and finally frees the Life Capital from the usurpers in disguise, becoming a King and preparing his people to the final confrontation with the Death Leader, the Dread Lich. If the player would be nice to the Order, he would eventually join the Order Leader, a powerful warrior, who would leave his younger brother to reign. After the Life capital would be free, a revolt would happen in the lands of Order, and the player would receive a chance to capture its capital as well.
Some special features of the quest include:
- Timed event messages (like in the Death Quest)
- Special barter dialogs in faction Mage Guilds (Artifact Trade Dialogs)
- Unique difficulty modifiers (so that the Elven Prince and his army doesn't get experience too fast)
- Implementing some unused LOMSE graphics
- A 4x Urak giant map
- A flyer ability of the main hero, the Elven Prince
- Other
Faiths added: (Part 1)
Faiths planned: (Part 1 + Part 2)
Technical Info:
The quest doesn't remove any of GS5 data and utilizes mostly standard GS5 scripts.
The only technical issue which requires re-checking is the game artifact list which may somehow suffer because of adding new lines.
Downloadable Content (DLC):
- The quest utilizes more than 10 custom battle maps (.SMP) which are hard to implement in the official GS5 release, but this issue can be regulated via setting standard maps to the encounters. The quest loses a little bit of flavor, but becomes more flexible in this case.
- The quest utilizes LifeScenario.scn (no need to rename the file extension to .LGD) which must still be added to the GS5 release for I can't seem to find a workaround. It must become an official file like all GS5 maps included in the GS5 archive.
- The quest utilizes cutscenes which take several megabytes of space and thus should be downloaded separately for I doubt Boaster will include them in the official GS5 archive.
