I'm not even sure this forum is still alive, but if it is, I only have one question:
In regards to placing villages, If I place a village from the "Specials" tab, when loading the map to play, the village will randomize between the two bordering faiths or disappear all together. If I place a village from the "Buildings" tab, the village sprite remains, but loses its special abilities (to build watch towers and training buildings).
My question: Is there a middle ground? I want to be able to place a Life Village exactly where I want it, have it stay a Life Village, and retain its village abilities. Is there a way to do this?

There are a limit to the number of functional (special) villages a map can have, which is roughly 1 between each faith. Additional, special villages will randomize between the faiths it is placed between. Even if you put an Order Vilalge between Death and Water, it will show up as a Death or Water village. Placing a village as a sprite (functional dungeon or decoration) will appear as it is placed, but does not yield special interaction benefits. Hope this helps.

It does, thank you. Would I be correct in assuming that the first village of each faith placed is the one that doesn't get randomized? Or is it when I place more than one of a single faith, they all get randomized? Also, is there a way to ensure they don't disappear if I have more than one?
So many questions...

All villages are randomized between the adjacent faiths. Nearness matters in which two faiths are involved. Can't guarantee any stay.

Would there be a way to modify the files for how many villages are allowed and if they randomize?

Would there be a way to modify the files for how many villages are allowed and if they randomize? IDK, I never found out how.
