Hi,
I'm using the version from GOG.com. I'd like to fix the Pegasus bug, and found the link to the 3.02 unofficial version. However, I'd rather not use any enhancements from the patch. Like the expanded unit information panel, or the new menus.
Is there a way to fix the Pegasus bug (and optionally, the other bug fixes provided by the 3.02 patch), without the enhanced menus?

Alternatively, is it possible to install the 3.02 ptach, but still keep the original unit information panel?

That's the file you will make changes in to make the changes you're seeking to me.

You need to open a file called Gs.mpq within your Lords of Magic directory. In order to open Gs.mpq you need to download a program called WinMPQ (easy to find with a Google search). Once you open Gs.mpq with WinMPQ, a list of text files will appear. Amongst those, you need to open with Notepad the archive called Makearmy.gs. and look for the coding line which was wrongly spawning a pegasus rider.
Feel free to write again here if it is too complicated.

Great news! You're now officially a modder.  I remember back in 2006 I was lurking here and I was having so much fun modifying cave encounters in the game to make it somewhat harder. |

I was able to use WinMPQ to open the GS file, found the MakeArmy.gs, and open in in Notepad. I have no idea what to do next. Would anyone be able to point out the specific text that needs altered in order to replace the pegasus riders, please?

Look for LICR3 and if it's among a bunch of low tier units, change it to something else.
