I have been working on some assets for Unreal Engine. Eventually I would like to capture even just a little of the lighting in the bottle that is LOMSE. Simple AI, bring back all the Faith's units and spells as well as buildings and artifacts. Plug them into Unreal engine and have and action adventure RPG in the spirit of Lords Of Magic. Strictly fan based for now. I have used magic voxels to turn some of the original Sprites into scalable vector graphics for proper ratio and proportions. Then I used the same sprites as reference to build 3D models of Unreal assets. I'm just sharing some concept art for the water faith. It's very rough but I hope to flesh it out soon. Also would like to work on anything else related to bringing LOM to the 3D world. Any ideas or artwork anyone wants to share I can try to make it into 3D assets. The LOMSE Sprites are very small but they definitely used 3D models as seen in the cinematics and the game manual. I tried to stay as true to the original Sprites as possible so they look very simple but I'm open to ideas! Thanks for your input!

There is something to be said about a scantily clad amazon.

Yes, the thief in particular has her floatation devices ready! Quite bubbly, I'd say.

Arnold is overplayed. Dolph, who played He-Man in the live action movie, might be a good one. Just my thought. Or maybe even a Kevin Sorbo, a la Kull the Conqueror.
Lucy Lawless is a given (for a Huntress), but I love what you have presented! I'm sure Gabrielle, for a life enchantress, would also be a given [Laugh out Loud]. As far as a Shaman... I'm not sure. That would be a neat take.
Ever seen King Arthur and the Knights of Justice cartoon? A character like Viper would make for a nice Executioner.
Your renderings are, in a word, magnificent!

Cool I'm going to take a look into that cartoon, and will take your advice on Dolph! I might need some help realizing some characters that are not shown in detail. The chaos thief has a close up in the game manual but some don't. So any suggestions after I will make edits. I'm trying to make a simple game for now where it's everybody vs Death. Then once that works I'll split up the faiths like LOM does. I'm in the process of creating a horder of skeleton warriors and zombies for fodder with dark elves as the next step. Kind of like a survival tower defense in the spirit of LOM. With the hopes of making a game extremely similar to LOM in unreal engine. I appreciate all the kind words, it is difficult to put artwork out there for critique!

This is awesome. You should share to the Reddit if you haven't already. One thing I'd say is to just have fun and include different shades of melanin and muscular physiques. (Just got the idea to suggest Hafthor for the physical model of Fire/Air warriors while writing this) LOMSE always stood out to me because it drew inspiration from all over the place. The Amazons were Black, the Fire Mage has a Caribbean accent, the Chaos/Fire units are golden brown (and jacked), the Order/Life units don't have the sterotypical, prim/proper British voices, etc. Little things like this helped me immerse in the game.
All that aside, I see some great things coming out of this. Definitely looking forward to what you create.

Merry Christmas LOM friends!
I like your artwork on chaos thief. It looks better with the typical chaos thief pose, it looks like she's moving. Yes, if you want more people to see your art you can post on Reddit and maybe also ask Boaster to upload it on his Facebook LOM page?

Yeah I'm trying to figure out a way to have different skin tones without needing to buy HD skin textures. Been tweaking the settings a bit on skin translucency which I read may help but the renders have all came out one color despite the viewport displaying a change. I use Maya, Blender and Daz3D mostly. I'm about to dump a few more screenshots today been busy with this Winter semester. But happy new years see y'all soon

Here is a short render on the skeletons I am working on for Death, somethings wrong with the physics on the cloth but I am still tweaking it. I am trying to stay faithful to the original game's assets. Question: What do you think the relationship between the skeletons and the Water Warriors? They both have similar helmets They both have similar weapons: sword and shield They both have long hair and have Blue tattered clothing- Blue being the unique color for Water (Air is baby blue and none of them have shields) The skeleton helmet is shown in the cinematic and the Water Warriors' helmet can be seen in the Game Manual. Just a thought...

Excellent work! I would figure skeletons should not have a helmet, or should have a "Skull Cap." Skeletons use a scimitar. Amazons use a straight edge. Umm, excuse... Air is SKY BLUE (tee hee) Skeletons ought to not have hair. Bare bones. At most, tattered cloth or rags on skeletons, in my opinion. You are the artist, you have creative license. Enjoy your work as much as you enjoy making it.

Oh, wow! So amazing to see these models brought to life in 3D! It's very difficult to put one's artwork online for display as it opens you up to critique, but as I come from a visual background myself, and also very passionate about a LOM 2 project I wanted to share my feedback, both positive and critical. Firstly, you definitely captured the likeness of the buildings and characters you're representing, I could instantly recognize which sprites these relate to, so good job there! However, I would suggest that you go even further than just capturing the likeness of these models, rather than copying them, you should improve or evolve their design. Lords of magic has many beautifully designed characters and buildings, but it also has some rather awful looking game assets that really could do with a complete rethink. The original LOM "Lizard Man" design is, in my opinion, one example of a poorly designed unit, in game they look so awkward and janky, they need a redesign or even complete rethink of the concept. I can see you've done this to an extent with your Lizard man design, as an early concept it looks great, the armor is beautiful and hints at the flowing waves of the sea where this creature crawled from. But there is something a little robotic looking in the rest of his design, maybe it's the simplified texture, but it could do with looking more organic, particularly around the lizard's face and jawline. The water warrior and mage look good, though as I’m sure your aware they need a lot more detail. Let's see some more armor and accessories, maybe a rethink of the mages' hair. I’d also like to see some ornate, swirling, water style designs on the mage's breastplate. As I said, you don't need to recreate the assets exactly, use your creativity and artistic license. This will also protect you from any copyright accusations down the line, if this became a commercial venture. Regarding the Water Thief design, I think this is one of your weaker designs to be honest. She looks very over-sexualized, and there's something about the Seashell helmet that doesn't look right. Maybe give her more to wear, decrease breast size, and rethink the headwear. This might just be my opinion, but she's so exposed right now, I'd seriously worry about her safety on the battlefield Now onto the Chaos Thief concept, I love this! She is attractive while still looking strong and feminine. There's some great detail in the Chakram, necklace and face, and the whole design fits perfectly with the Barbarian aesthetic. In terms of improvements, I'd add some "Xena Warrior princes" style designs to her breastplates. The knee/shin pads need more shaping so they better fit her legs, they look a bit big and clunky right now. You could maybe make her plait look a little more messy as she is chaos after all, but I'm nitpicking now. It's a really nice looking model so far. Oh and we need some awesome looking tribal tattoos! No self respecting barbarian would be without them. In regard to the Tiger model in the background, I can't really see it very well, but it looks like there are issues with the texture wrap. If you're looking for a Tiger model, I’d just buy a premade one from an asset store, customize the skin and add your own features such as saddle, armor, etc. The skeletons look great! Not a lot to say about those, though possibly the swords could be thicker, as they look very thin and fragile right now. I know you're rendering these models in Unreal 5, but what other software are you using? I've made models for Skyrim mods in the past, but I've also started creating 3D character models inspired from Lords of Magic. Mainly just for my own enjoyment and to improve my skills, I'm not ready to share any of my models yet, but as we're working towards a similar goal perhaps we could collaborate in the future... I've posted my 3D interpretation of the Life Great Temple below, so you can see I'm not a complete noob [Laugh out Loud], I use Blender to model and Substance Painter to texture. Currently, I'm working on Air, Life and neutral faction models, but I'll post these when they are a bit more finished. Anyway, I hope you found my input useful, I know these are early concept designs but I just wanted to give my feedback so far. You have a great start here and looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks for all the feedback! I take it all into consideration. Good eye on the tiger asset it is indeed a texture wrapping issue where I just gave up for the time being. I think your right about the copyright issues so if I change it there could be many benefits. Water thief is my favorite from the game but yeah she's a little too busty! My daughter also says she dislikes the hat, something to think about. I would like to have a system where armor actually gets added onto your character. I am working on a LOMSE mod where an artifact actually changes your Sprite to add armor or effects utilizing the mount system built into the game.
Wow your Life temple is just awesome!!! I love it. I use blender and Maya (I have a student free version) but want to learn substance painter as I feel I need something more intuitive. Some days I manage fine other days I totally forget what I am doing when it comes to textures.
That said I really appreciate you sharing your work, especially how beautiful it is. I had a dream where I was a water mage and an order knight cam to visit me before leaving off into an open 3d world. I've been busy with school lately and I got a new job but will post more soon!

An item system like that in LOMSE would be amazing, but sounds like a huge amount of work! I didn't know that was even possible to mod in this old game.
Regarding the Water thief, all these years I didn't notice the Thief had a shell on her head! I always thought it was some elaborate helmet. I’ve included some images of the LOM sprite below, you're right it must be a shell on her head, I think LOM only gets away with this because the old graphics are so pixelated. I would suggest changing this to a fancy helmet of some kind on your HD versions, a shell on her head could look a bit wacky in HD.
The Water Thief Lord is one of my favorite sprites as well, her armor looks like it's made from mother-of-pearl and her dress looks like it could be made of sequins that reflect light like fish scales. The standard water thief champion looks a lot less impressive sadly, and her bright yellow armor clashes with the color of her outfit, so the colors need adjusting in any remake.
Your about texturing, it can be really hard, I haven't mastered that side of computer graphics just yet as I'm focusing on modeling at the moment. Substance painter is meant to be really good if you can afford it, Steam are selling it for about 130 dollars last time I checked, this is a forever license and one off fee, better than the subscription based model if you know you're going to be using it for a long time.
What is your level of expertise in Unreal engine? I only know the basics of level design here.
Thanks for the feedback on the Life Temple, glad you liked it! I’m pleased with how it turned out though it's hard to imagine how it will look in game with the lighting and environment setup, I need to test it inside Unreal.

Yes that Life Temple is beautiful, I'm pretty much a complete noob in unreal and was using RPG maker addon which is not available any longer it seems. I bought RPG engine toolkit to try and help me. I was using Unity then got lost before committing to unreal once 5 came out. I've just been making assets so far as I'm a little above a noob when it comes to 3D modeling. I would love to see LOM come to life again. I was thinking of even creating a 2D or 3D fighter which is a totally different genre but something I have done it before. I wish I could get in contact with he current owners of LOM... Like do they just own the IP or do they actually have the old assets?
