Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do you open the mpq archives? When I open them with Notepad (on Windows) or vim/vi/emacs/mg (on *nix), I get the random characters you get when opening a binary file, if the application doesn't crash. I tried MPQEdit (on Windows), but that always crashes. I read that mpq files are compressed, so is there some program I can download to extract and re-compress them?
Thanks!

WinMPQ with its components or Ladik's MPQ Editor will open MPQ archives pretty much like a windows folder would. You would need a file list to view all of the files and data inside. I have all three available on the downloads page of my website.

Thanks!
So, how do I tell Ladik's MPQ Editor where the listfile is?
