i am hopeless please help

hello i am trying to download and play a mod for lords of magic specifically the large urak mod but i dont have a clue what i am supposed to do to get it to work or where to find it.  i mean i downloaded it to my downloads but isn't it supposed to go in some sort of lords of magic file? i looked in custom games to see if i had some how got it to work but while there are custom game files there, they are weird and hard to tell what they are/if they are the right ones.  i am kind of hopeless with computers so if anyone can help please be as specific as possible if you skip even the easiest step i'll be completely lost still.  sorry.

Welcome. Ok let's try to do this.

First question: do you have already the game installed and working (without mod)?

Second question: can you search and tell me where in your computer is located your lomse.exe file (the file from which you'll run the game)?

After that I'll help more.

yes i do have the game installed.

as for the location of the lomse.exe file i think i have found it it doesnt say its exe but its the file i can click on to get the game to start booting up. um question does the location for the desktop shortcut that boots up the game count?

edit  i did search for lomse.exe specifically and i did find a location for it as well.

Great! Now you have to install the mod and/or maps. There's no large Urak mod. You probably either meant "large Urak map" or "GS Mod".

To install Large Urak map:
Download the file provided by Tommyg in his topic and place it in the folder called "map" that should be just besides your lomse.exe file.
Then launch via custom game and pick the custom map.

To install Boasters' mod:
Download the .rar file from here as well as PIC5R3, where Boaster wrote "download latest upgrade": impz.proboards.com/thread/1682/gs5r3-updates-reports?page=1&scrollTo=8750
After that, unzip everything in the same folder as your lomse.exe file, replacing things if needed.

yes i got it to work thank you very much i didnt know where to find the maps file before but it was exactly where you said it'd be.  um one more question though if i can the file i moved is called urak xl ver 3 does that mean its tommyg's version?  or is it something different.   also should i try and get boasters mod as well?

Yes this is the right map name. But keep in mind, as we discussed in the topic, that the map tends to have some performance issues.

I totally suggest trying Boaster's mod, it's a great improvement from original LOMSE.
