For LOMSE to be playable over a Local Area Network:
Go to the Control Panel and then go to "Network and Internet Connections". Go to "Network Connections" then right-click your Local Area Network. Go to Properties, then Install. Find the IPX protocol there and install it.
Note that IPX isn't in Vista. Also, these settings apply only for Local Area Network in XP and not specifically for Kali.net or Hamachi.
If there are any questions or comments reguarding the setup of multiplayer games, post them here. This is not a thread for issuing challenges or scheduling games.

Hey quick question. My friend and I downloaded your GS5 mod and started a game in Kali, but when we went to multiplayer -> Local Area Network, there was no CREATE button, only a JOIN and CANCEL button. When we took off the GS5 mod, and started a new game with Kali again, the CREATE button reappeared. Is there something additional we have to do, either in network settings or kali, in order to play multiplayer?
Thanks!

I'll try and correct this asap. Thank you very much for this information. xxxxxx xeditx xxxxxx This problem has been patched for the GS5. Just go to the GS Mods download page on my website and download the most recent update to it and everything reguarding this issue will be fixed up. Sorry for the inconvenience. Enjoy the mod once again ;D

me and my mate have got lomse with your patch (thanks for that [By the way]) and we were wondering how we might go about playing multiplayer. he has a laptop which he can bring over so a direct cable could be arranged if its a must. we both have hamachi aswell but dont really know how to set about creating a multiplay for us both any help would be much appreciated.
pre mod we both connected to one another via hamachi and one of us created a game which the other could see but when the other clicked join the mouse would freeze for about five seconds then nothing would happen and the mouse would free up again. ?

Finrod I have no details on hamachi. Go to their tech support website at www.hamachi.cc. Direct Connect should work fine, but I would suggest establishing a local area network. This is something you'll have to figure out.

You say that the Create Button is not coming up with my mod only?
Set up your Network Protocols, including IPX/SPX and TCP/IP compatabile protocols.
Open LOMSE without any mods or patches (LOMSE 3.00). If the button shows up, then it should also work with my mod.
There has been a problem in the past with my mod, having done the removal of CD checks, but that has long been fixed.
If the problem still occurs, try uninstalling LOMSE. After uninstalling, delete the LOMSE folder. Though before deleting the folder, you may want to move any important files you have in that folder.
After an uninstall and deleting the folder, reinstall LOMSE with a full install and check your results.

I just tried uninstalling and deleting the folder, then reinstalling, with no success. The "create" button still shows up without the mod, but not with it. At first i thought that mabey it was not working because i installed my game with a burned cd, but i tried the mod with a original cd installation with the same results. I also have the ipx etc. installed on my computer. I guess i could always just uninstall the mod for multiplayer but i really like the mod.

I'll work on a fix or try to locate the problem. 2:14 PM 8/11/2007 The problem has been fixed. It was so simple, good thing I left original code in the correct document as a comment. Go ahead and grab the GS5 update.

Sorry for the double post, but i forgot to mention that when i downloaded the GS5 rar file there was no "pic5.mpq" file that was mentioned in the installation instructions. I just followed the rest of the instructions and the mod works fine single player, but would this mabey mess up the create button in multiplayer?

how do I multiplay with Vista?
I know it's weird playing an old game on such a new system but my friend and I are feeling nostalgic.

how do I multiplay with Vista? I know it's weird playing an old game on such a new system but my friend and I are feeling nostalgic. Hi snowblind, I saw your post in the VU forums. As you may already know, you won't get much help there. Also, I do not post there anymore. Unfortunately, Vista is largely uncharted territory for myself. As far as I know, Vista doesn't even work on IPX/SPX protocols. So your only options would be to setup a direct connection, or an actual modem/phone game. However, if you are computer savvy, I would suggest make your computer dual bootable. That is to say, fit two operating systems onto one partitioned harddrive... or even the possibility of buying a 2-3 gb harddrive that you can swap in and out of the computer. As far as a second operating system, I would suggest Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows XP. Vista is the pits and I do believe the compatability of Vista and older games is next to nil. Loading a second operating system to one computer, or having a second operating system just to play old games may seem a bit extravagant. But if there's a will, there's way and you'll find your way through if you want it bad enough. I hope this has been of some help to you, rather than the short and uninformative replies you get elsewhere.

hmm I've never posted in another forum about lords of magic, great minds must think alike... Unfortunately throwing another hard drive into this laptop is not possible, and although I could probably partition it, I'd rather not. I have an older rig and a copy of XP, so I'll probably use that Thanks though-- if you become more familiar with vista in the future maybe you can bump this or something.

I have the latest version of you mod installed, and I have the IPX protical installed on my network. But, the "creat" botton does not work. It shows up, I type in a game name and press creat but the game does nothing. Any ideas what might be wrong?

I don't know what it could be at this point if it is not that or the protocol.
