Having some issues trying to download the file... It keeps downloading a file named: IMP_PCX.rar.exe Why is it not downloading a .rar file? That's because you are not downloading the needed file, but one of those annoying download managers. It's a common practice when hosting companies use a user-non-friendly design to make the user download their shitty product in the first place instead of what you want to download. I managed to download your file. It required a few "Cancels" and a sequent click on the "If your download doesn't start automatically, click here". If you still won't be able to download the archive, I can upload it somewhere. I cannot upload it here, perhaps we can contact via email. My emails are orzie@mail.ru or orzieorzie@gmail.com (likely), you can find me there.

Hello First post here. New to both the game and the site Amazing work. If possible, may the files be re-uploaded ? Link is dead. EDIT: Nevermind, xtracted files with Lomut. [By the way]. Played "Lords of the Realm II" ( by same studio as LOM ) since its launch on 1996/1997, and made some mini-mods for it. Knew about LOM through promo video embedded in the the demo of LOTR2's expansion For some reason skipped it for 20+ years. Big mistake.

Thanks for reply and re-upload Already spent some time for research on both the files and file related post here. I have some experience on color tweaking from former game mini-mods, and my ongoing project for LOMSE is a color swap in the palette for order/water cavalry so the water folks can get a distinctive look Learned some basics regarding required changes on .gs and .h files by checking files uploaded by eyesodilated for her earth cavalry replacement Also, made a Python script that edits IMPs palette without extracting the frames. Its an early prototype, which lacks a proper user interface, yet it already does the work imho. The static unit icon is not yet edited. Ironically it supposed to be the easy part, but I wanted to edit the orcav/wacav icon in the same way as the animation frames (i.e editing palette without extracting from .imp), which I guess cannot be done without affecting the other icons within waicons.imp

The static unit icon is generally referred to as a "Roster sprite."
I'd be interested in seeing how this goes. It looks like I may be able to create a functional "Fire Dwarf" if you've got it ironed out. And an actual Frozen Shade, Shadow Goblins, Valkyrie Lord, etc. etc. Palette swaps, if simple, would yield some cool possibilities.

Updated the tool in order to work with a text "parameters" file which serves as a sort of "user interface", so I can share it here without further delay The text file as an interface for the script has the benefit of allowing multiple executions of it by renaming different versions of the parameter file with batch files The tool runs on python 2.7.18 The script also writes palette (.pal) files, and the idea is to check the source palette first, in order to decide how to edit it, in a later run of the script. In the attached ZIP file included a (rushed) read-me file and a sample folder with edited files for water cavalry and water warrior lord and parameter files already set for those edits EDIT: 05-Nov-23, updated tool and "read me" file 20-Nov-23, updated "read me" file LOM_Palette_Tool_v039.zip (684.02 KB) ---- I expect great variation in the difficulty for palette editing, among different units For humans, units featuring sharp distinction between skin color and clothes are easier Some creatures may be also easier to edit since there would not be worries about what is the "realistic" color for the skin - assuming they have skin ---- Editing the Valkyrie seems very feasible Shadow Goblins may be feasible too Frozen Shade may be specially difficult. as the body of the creature heavily uses the same special (red) color used by the game in order to render shadows ---- I will be glad to expand on the use of the tool if needed ( need to replace that rushed read-me file anyway ) Regards

Yes. Pure Red and Pure Green in the palettes are for translucent and transparencies. I forget which order, but those have to be the first two colors in the palette in order for all of those features to work well.

Updated version of the tool and read me file Attached both here, and in the previous post The tool now allows to select palette indexes from a txt file (index_list.txt) ---- EDIT:20-Nov-2023: Updated "read me" file LOM_Palette_Tool_v039.zip (684.02 KB) ---- Below attachment is a batch folder that contains: -A copy of the python tool -Several instances (16) of renamed parameters.txt -Several instances (05) of renamed index_list.txt -One instance of patch_list.txt -A batch (.BAT) file configured to execute all the modifications in one run -An "input_imp" folder containing 11 source imp files related to: EALDFA for fire dwarf project (two versions included, plus "b" files) WATF1A for valkyrie project (two versions included, plus "b" files) ORCAVA for the water cavalry project ("b" files and mounts included) WALDFA for the water warrior lord ("b" files included) The batch file will rename the required txt files in order to execute the script LOM_Palette_Tool_Batch.zip (693.72 KB) ---- As a reference, also attached (below) the files that shall result from the batch execution ( excluded the modified water warrior lord ) in order to keep the file below 1 MB ) sprite_mod.zip (999.57 KB) ---- Regards

Below attached is an early version of another tool: An alternate sprite extractor EDIT:Updated version. 1) Fixed sprite extractor in order to skip frame entries identified as duplicate back references 2) Added imp compiler. The tool now can recompile the BMPs it exported The compiler requires both BMPs and the original IMP file in order to work Palette can be imported from the original IMP File OR from one of the BMP files to be compiled No other file should be present in the folder that holds the BMP files to be compiled The "user interface" is a txt file named settings.txt -IMP's Header: Taken from original IMP file -Sequence Info data: Taken from original IMP file -Facing Info Data: Taken from original IMP file - Regarding Frame Info Data: -- Frame Type: Taken from original IMP file -- Frame HSP Type: Taken from original IMP file -- Frame width: Taken from original IMP file -- Frame Height: Taken from original IMP File -- Frame Length: Adjusted upon changes in RLE sizes (except when original length = 0 or Frame Type <> 0) -- HSP Offset/DspX/DspY: Adjusted upon accumulated change in RLE sizes (except when HSP Type = 0) -- Frame Offset: Adjusted upon changes in RLE sizes (8-byte padding included) - HotSpot structure data: Taken from original imp file Attached ZIP does not include a readme.txt file yet
EDIT:20-Nov-2023: Added "read me" file to the downloadable zip LOM_Sprite_Tool_v035.zip (949.13 KB) ---- END OF EDIT ---- LOM Sprite tool runs in python 2.7.18, just like LOM Palette Tool The interface file is named settings.txt The extracted sprites are written in BMP format Also, Sprites extracted from IMP source get their declared width and height (instead of forcing 512 x 512 ) ---- Attached below, a sample of extracted sprites Sample.zip (639.79 KB) ---- Y ou ill note, 8 corrupted sprites in EALDFA folder, as well as 1 corrupted sprite in DECR2AEDIT:There were no corrupted sprites. It was the tool naively trying to export BMPs from duplicate back references (fixed) ----
